Ours has also never been a constittionaly governed state and in essence it was more like Saudi situation where establishment acted as House of Saud but since we did not have oil revenues to keep the rest of the populace happy we allowed everyone to do what suited them as long as they did not challenge the elite and their disconnected life style. Pakistan did the mistake in 1979 when they allow the refugees freely to Pakistan and then Afghan culture influence the Pakistan culture. On the other hand Iran made special camps for afan refugees on border areas and they are safe from this situation. I am disagree with you that Pakistan should withdraw support from Afghansitan. If Pakistan can do such thing then there will be power vaccuem in Afghanistan and it can adverse effects on Pakistan. This time Pakistan learn her lesson and not allowed refugees to Pakistan. On the other hand the radiclization element in Pakistan army may be found in some extent but i dont think so that it may the access to nuclear war heads in the futur. If today west see Pakistan in bad manner then it was on that side that they miscalculate the situation. Gen Kiyani advised the American in 2010 that building the Afghan army is completely wrong step but American didnt listen. Pakistan work for her own intersts and it should engaged in Afghanistan with the consultation of regional powers and as well as UN and the US.

India always used afghan soil against pakistan and Pakistan protested to Afghan govt many times before Taliban takeover. Before Taliban takeover Afghan govt under Ghani was ally of India and NDS and RAW were involved in terrorism in Pakistan from Afghan soil. Secomdly Pakistan want access to Central Asian countries for cheap hydro carbons and it is possible now in Taliban govt. To become regional economic hub it is necessary that the govt in Afghanistan should side with Pakistan

First if all, no they werent, second taliban never used air or artillery cover, ana (afghan army) was supposed to use modern machinery (which they couldn't because of edu) modern machinery means artillery and air xover and guided missiles etc, taliban mostly relied on old wepons (ak 47s and 54s and such)

Because ANA was trained the same way American troops are trained. Doctrine was same. Huge reliance on air cover to avoid casualties. Without air cover, ANA was a piece of cake for Taliban. That's why Russia is the most dangerous force on ground. USA is only superior in air. If you neutralize air superiority of America with powerful air defence system, US millitary would have a hard time fighting too.

I think it is not about west. It is about doing the right. The reason why west has exemplified all around are their higher moral or societal values for higher-ups at-least. This creates satisfaction in general public. ultimately common people start following those norms. In current day scenario, focus on west is to picturized the ultimate results not to adopt their norms. Obviously we have our own culture, tradition, religious norms and all.

Aashir sb i will respectfully diagree here.. first of all dont call taliban gov. Now it is Afghan government. World is gonna say whatever will suit them. We have sacrificed enough by trying to please the world. Secondly we have been in US camp from day 1, what we have achieved?? instead US have betrayed us on evey ocasion. ALSO the reign of Afghan Taliban in 96 till fall of Kabul was one of the most peaceful era despite there was not a single Pakistani soldier on western border. And peace has been restored after Americans have left Aghaniatan. Whatever happened in Balochistan recently was done by Iran. But Pak gov. Kept a blind eye to it as usual.

Just because we didn't get anything while in American camp doesn't mean that we need to jump in bed with taliban now. Taliban also have not given us any roses during first time and even this time around. As for peace restoration in Afghanistan is concerned, it is calm before storm as the whole Afghan society is at the verge of collapse economically and socially. For Pakistan it is much sane advice to stay with the rest of the world and don't take sides with taliban now. As a Pakistani, if we are unable to learn frommthe past, then we can't move forward by repeating the same mistakes.

I admire your each n every word, but as you also been a part of civil services, the only thing which I don’t like is to criticise too much on govt bodies especially on forces n intelligence etc. It was very unfortunate wat has happened to you but as you n me knw tht in this world it’s very hard to get things as per ur own wishes so nothing ideal we can get. Ashir sb, history tells us that there was a centralised govt. namely the emirate of Afghanistan created ahmad shah abdali and then the kingdom of afghanistan which was ended in the 70's by soviet invasion and a communist uprising. So there has been a central government but it needs to have concrete roots in afghanistan..if you bring professors who have lived half their lives in the US or politicians who were not part of the social fabric of afghanistan then that kind of central authority is of no use.
