@nonplayerzealot48 жыл бұрын
Marlene, MTV as the world once knew and loved it died at least a decade before 2004. That's about the point where the shows outnumbered the music videos and the music videos weren't good enough to warrant more time anyway. In 98, they put up MTV2 in order to play videos as they used to, but they quickly began playing older stuff because the shit coming out of the music industry in the Napster years sucked about as much as the Simpsons. A bunch of gay boy bands and what not. Popular music as an entity had died by 2000.

Anyone who understands something about music knows how incredible this song is. The verses have a very bizarre chord progression, which was taken up before the last chorus too, on which they were able to compose two different melodies. One of these (the la la, la la la part) also appears at the end of the song but on a completely different chord progression (AND IT FITS IT!). No music producer works at this level nowadays. Moreover, Ashlee was not the best singer in the world but her voice is perfect for this song. Everything was tailored for her and no other singer could have achieved this extraordinary result.
