ASHLEY GT MIDGET HISTORIC RACE CAR REFRESHED FOR 2023

I well remember driving from Canterbury to Bishops Stortford in my 1965 Mk2 Midget to have an Ashley fastback hardtop fitted at the factory and driving back the same day. Fitting the hardtop was a fairly simple matter of removing the bootlid. This could always be fitted back and the hardtop stored so the car could be used with the top down in summer. The Ashley hardtop did make it a really pretty little car - fond memories! Ended up selling the car for £250 and buying my 1963 Series 1 3.8 Jaguar E-Type roadster for £400! Engine had just been rebuilt by Baileys of Canterbury too!! Happy days.

Love these little Midget/Sprite derivatives.In 1981 I briefly owned the ex Russ Ward Midland Hillclimb Championship Sprite than got made redundant & sold to Patsy McGarrity in Ireland,a prominent Spridget racer!

@@Pauley_in_GP Yes...Been a member for a number of years, 4 more than they show on the roster. I lived in Dopeville (Williams) for 22 years Dope growers finally managed to force us out. I had 11 1/2 acres, 500 feet of river, legal water rights,3 2.8 acre fields in irrigation, 2000 trees , 60 ft pond. 1600 Sq Ft barn, 400 sq ft studio, outbuildings.. the entire property fenced and cross fence.. My view was nothing but mountains. You could not see my house form the road. The bastards sabotaged my water system, stole $26 K in lumber, stripped my orchards, stole my art work off the porch before UPS could get there.. on and on.. Stripped my gardens... tore my fences down...Enough We sold out and moved to J'Ville to a house we owned for many years. My brother has owned 2 Miata's, currently a 2022 ?. He has owned many Brit cars.. He's in Calif. I have owned 30 Brit cars since 1964. jjhildrethstudios.com
