Church of Christ. Brought back memories... Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night. Brought back pleasant memories but when I needed them, a week before I got drafted in 1969, I asked a C of C minister to marry me and my pregnant girlfriend. The minister refused maintaining that he had to ask the Elders. I remember getting up from the chair, stating, that, “No. He did not.” I ended up going to my Aunt ( Heaven forbid, a back sliding Baptist) who asked a Good Man named Palmer Watson, her minister, to perform the ceremony. He not only agreed but volunteered the church building free of charge. I was a young man not sure what to do but 51 years later I still remember his christianity. You all can make your own judgments about the Church of Christ in that instance. I ended up a decorated Vietnam Vet in those years but also had 3 kids who ended up decorated and w/ multiple college graduate degrees and military honors. Make your own judgments....

I play this on a regular basis in honour of my Grandad. I have his guitar 🎸 And his organ. He could play any instrument by ear. He was always singing, whistling or talking to Gods creatures. Both him and his father fought in both World Wars. He also taught me how to hunt, fish, & how to love Jesus. His prayers are what saved me. I've missed him every single day since the Lord called him home. Over 12 years ago. And I can't wait to see him again. Great Song thanks Ashley from South Australia 🇦🇺

My Daddy was also a man who taught his little girls (4) how to be a man. He loved playing music and played a 1956 Fender Stratacaster. I now have that guitar. Your tribute to your Daddy is so touching and heartfelt. Thank you so much for sharing this song with the world. It brings comfort and pride to those who "hears the love" in your voice.

Oh Ashley .. Bible & a .44 ... Wow. Daddy taught me how to hunt and how to Love the Lord. He had a Red 52 Silvertone Bigsby Gibson guitar. With his Name on the pick guard. Every time he picked it up the first chords stroked was to Either The House of New Orleans or Fulsome Prison blues. He drove me nuts.. He loved that guitar. My Daddy could sing and belt out tunes from Love songs, the Blues and of course some Rock and Roll. My Daddy is my Hero Worked hard in the Coal Mines of Southwestern Virginia . He was Injured severely in that hole in the ground.. But he Made it to Walk again. Age and those old injuries took him away from me Jan 17, 2005. It killed me to have to let go.. He has had More grand Children born since he left us... I Miss him Every day. I told dad years ago before he was ever injured.. Dad teach me how to play... He didn't have the time... I told him if I could Ever learn the notes Coming out of my finger tips would be seen in Colors so Bright it would Blind the Sun.. He just laughed.. Then he was gone. My oldest brother( NOT HIS SON) Stole the Guitar I was Promised would be me if anything were to happen to him. To make a long story short my brother took it pawned it I found out about it and gave my Mother HELL for it. She had in turn called my Brother that rushed to the pawn shop and pick it up and he sold it to some Random dude a friend of Mine Knew by Fate ! My friend told me... Then I was online talking to My Friend or so I thought but it was the random dude on my friends computer.... When he asked me what the relevance is to the name on the pick guard it was then I Knew that was NOT my friend. But after talking .. My Loving Husband went to meet the random guy and came home came in the Back door and placed it on My Bed... He then calls me into the bed room..... All I could do was CRYYYY... When I Opened it Like you say in a Lyric when you play your father's guitar it was like shaking his hand... When I Opened the Case and saw my daddy's name it was like I was being hugged so tight I passed out. I came too in tears of Joy. Of Love and flooded with so Many memories and the music he played would play over and over in my heart. You amazed me with thus song. My Daddy was a feisty 5'5" Red headed Blue eyed Nothin but Right Guy. I Love him ... I AM Proud to be his Only Princess .... Your song here Ashley is PRICELESS. 💜🎶🎤🎸✌

Oh lord. Those two together are gonna make me cry. This is the first song I’ve ever heard from her and Chris Stapleton’s Broken Halos was played at my Uncles funeral in March, the very first time I heard it. My uncle and my Dad are a lot like the man she’s singing about, except they both let their daughters touch their guitars even though they weren’t made that way anymore. I had my Dad’s repaired in June. I’d give anything to find my Uncles guitars. Now I’ve gotta learn to play. This girl just sang my life in a song.
