McBryde closed out 2019 with ACM New Female Artist, CMT Breakout Artist, a New Artist of the Year win at the 53rd Annual CMA Awards and two nominations for the 2020 GRAMMYs for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance for “Girl Goin’ Nowhere.” Her follow-up Never Will was tagged by Rolling Stone as one of the most anticipated of the year alongside NPR, who also ranked her Top 10 RIAA Platinum-Certified single “One Night Standards” as one of the best songs of 2019. The album earned McBryde a 2021 GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album, making Never Will the only album nominated for Country Album of the Year by the ACMs, CMAs and the Recording Academy in the same award season. Honestly this saved my life . This song on repeat . My whole life I was told I was nothing . No one loved me . I had no chance. My biological mom abandoned me when I was three , to be raised by people that weren’t even my biological family , found out a few years ago who my bio dad was . Most of my life I’ve been abused and passed to the next person to bully me. Luckily, somehow I pulled through . Now I’m 36 married to my wonderful husband. A wonder teenage son and we manage two successful businesses. Not bad for a girl going no where . Thank you for this song .

I can't even begin to describe how close to home this song hits me. I was an artist/musician/songwriter in Nashville in the early 90's. I made all the right moves, met all the right folks, made all the big writer's nights. Was starting to gain serious momentum, worked in a few studios around town, played more than a few gigs on the road. Had more than a few meetings with some A&R people and label heads. Then it all came crashing down. I crushed all the bones in my hands in a freak accident and lost all the dexterity in them to play guitar like a pro. First the record labels quit calling, then they wouldn't return my calls. Studios quit calling, even for vocal work. Songwriters that I had appointments with cancelled on me when they heard the labels weren't interested anymore. I guess they figured since the labels dropped me, there was no point in going forward, even without talking to me. When I would call them, I always got the answering machine. There came a point in my life that I couldn't handle the rejection anymore, and just decided to move back home. Some people laughed at me for not making it. Others were sympathetic, especially when they heard my songs or me sing. I am ok with that. People still love to hear me sing. and I am ok with that too. Just me and my old guitar. I don't write anymore, But every now and then I'll jot down a line or two and then I'll just leave it alone. But, life goes on for a one time used to be. I heard your song, and felt every single line down in my soul. It has touched me in ways no other song has, except for a couple that I have written myself. I listen to this song numerous times a day, and yes, I still dream about it..Thank you for such a wonderful song.

So, every couple of years someone comes along in country music that just makes me stop and listen...really listen. Last week while headed home late from work, I hear (on SIRIUS XM - the Highway) of a new country artist and it is her debut at the Grand Ol' Opry. Ashley McBryde is introduced and opens with "A Little Dive Bar In Dahlonega" which is just amazing!...but, then she follows up with a story...she tells of a time in high school when she is asked by a teacher about what she wants to do when she grows up. She tells of a dream...to write songs and play music and how the doubts of that teacher who said "that's stupid" and the doubts of those around her. What followed was was a song called 'Girl Goin' Nowhere, and it litterally made me stop! I stopped the car... and listened...really listened. Ashley McBryde is definitely 'a girl going somewhere'. You are an incredible talent #ashleymcbryde...never give up on your own pursuit of happiness and be who you are...amazing!

I've said this before. But it bears repeating. Ashley is the Adele of country music. Not only is she talented and on point. But she makes you feel every verse and every word. I seen her preform Bible and a 44 live with Eric Church. And I knew right then. That she is real and I'm hooked.
