20 years ago I dated A guy who was a functioning addict. I did not know anything about drugs till I was in my 40s. He introduced me to this stuff but he only spent $30 a week for that stuff. I'm so thankful I didn't get addicted and God steered me a different direction. Thanks Tom 🙏❤️

Maybe that's all she has or that's all she can get her hands on JUST MAYBE she doesnt know how to color match her skin tone. Shes not advertising for being a model or a make up guru. Ashley, if you're reading this, please know that so many of us really do care about you. You've got so much potential! If you ever need to talk, message me! We have similar situations ( not getting along with the step dad.) Recovery is very hard, but possible. I'll continue to pray for you. I won't donate money because I know as an addict it only makes it easier and I don't want to be responsible for someone's death. Please understand. I have to admit,, Tom scared the Hell outta me one day I was waiting for my supplier to show up n he drove by in that gold van with the camera mounted on the dash. I thought he was one of those people that were trying to clean up the neighborhoods type thing. I fell into addiction from a hand injury sustained on the job and had 3 different Drs. Prescribing pain pills, seeing different hand specialist n that in the mid 90s. Been laid off my job because of covid19 since April 1st, no insurance, no pills so here I am. I've met so many good people down there in Dire situations. I'm lucky enough to still have a house I can come home to so far. Believe me when I tell ya, the struggle is no joke. Being addicted sucks but I'd rather get myself feeling good than going through this sickness that comes when ya try cutting back or even when your short on cash n cant get what ya need to take the sickness away. It's a hard life. It is what it is for now.

It's a hard life. Fortunately I've only been homeless a couple of time short term. I've been an addict for nearly 20 years. 4 grown up kids and believe me kicking the habit IS NOT EASY. Ppl say do it for the kids. Omg it's such a cliche and waste of breath. Some addicts are never ready to give drugs up like myself. It depends on how tough it gets I guess. I'm very fortunate to have worked and maintained a sort of facade. Crack fucks you up in every way. Not done that in 10 years. Keeping the herion sickness away is your primary goal every day 7 days a week. The more money you get the more you buy. These girls on the streets must be so grateful for the food clothes and donations they get. Obviously that old saying no favour goes unpunished is true,so true. Herion addicts lie through their teeth to get their beloved drug and money. I reckon Tom has learnt this over the years. Thanks Tom for all you did for these girls. You've been a god send at times I can guarantee that.

If these people had access to trauma focused therapies like CIMBS and EMDR, you would see major changes. When a person is assisted in remapping the brain through desensitizing from past trauma. People who have unaddressed trauma that has not been processed are unable to be sober for a steady length of time because their sober state is miserable. Most of these problems would completely change if they started addressing them at the very root.

Trauma is the gateway for all of this. I also think some of these women and men on the streets could benefit from entheogenic therapies. Spirit medicine like psilocybin, mescaline, Ayahuasca. I also think that capitalism is a major factor people are not meant to live like we have been forced to live in a capitalistic society. Trauma and capitalism are the diseases and addiction and homelessness are symptoms. Can't make money off of saving people tho.
