Also, it is very difficult to perform under severly negative circumstances. Being the emotionally intelligent creatures we are and the fact the gymnastics is a sport that requires persistence and perfection, the gymnast goes through ENORMOUS internal battles as well as dealing with whatever else the coach puts on them...

I know exactly how you feel, I'm an optional gymnast right now. Coaches can be harsh, but we all pull through. Crying and pain and holding back tears is now a part of our life. We choose to do this in the beginning, and we all knew what was ahead and accepted.

its true, gymnasts are worked so hard so long that they want to get it right and when they dont get it perfect right away they get frustrated and hurt and feel like giving up sometimes. sometimes the coaches make it worse but they're just trying to help. thjey are so hard on us because they know we are able to do great things

I've been a gymnast for 14 years and i hear this all the time. when you're in a sport like this for so long, you learn to block out your emotions, and kind of live like a robot in a way, any other gymnast that have trained as long as i have know what i'm talkin about

i remember learning the balnce beam. i cryed in my pratice because one day i knew it cold but some times it didn't work out. but my gymnastics teacher told me i should do ballet. i did and was very good at it. so the first stort/whatever you do dosen't work out for you try something else. nothing comes strate down from the sky, you have to work you're butt off for stuff.

Gymnastics is clearly the hardest sport and most demanding of all. Ive been doing it since i was 3 and im now done. i dont see the fun in it anymore. once you compete, theirs so much pressure on you to get better when sometimes you've just had enough. And want to give up.

I'm in elite gymnastics and im 13, i know it hurts, but i get through it, and so does everyone else that makes it to elite. Alot of people think its all fun and games and that talent grows overnight. but we go through a lot to become as good as we are, and yes coaches can be mean, and when they are all they want if for you to try and do your best, most coaches only yell when you're not trying and can do better, they don't yell for fun and they don't try to make you cry,they just want you to try.

Ok, Gymnastics is in my opinion the hardest sport in the world! And when people try to say it's not a sport because its judged don't know the half of it. If it's judged, it means you have to be that much more perfect at what your doing. That much more focused. That much more committed. I went to get physical the other day and the person who did it was a football coach and a doctor, He told me he admired all gymnasts bcuz they are 10x tougher than any football player, and the

@airplanes2013 I can't speak from experience - I can only imagine, but I assume it's the same as myself with my physical sports - Martial Arts, Rollerblading, Free-running. There's a feeling I can't describe when everything just goes right. It's like flying, like a weightlessness as the whole world seems to re-assemble to make everything work so perfectly. I spend my whole life chasing that feeling, overcoming every obstacle, including the incredible pain that comes. I assume it's the same.

take it from someone who knows - our coaches are like gods to us ... we try to listen and yes sometimes we cant do ... but that is how we get through it and how we get better ... thats the only way to get better and gymnasts at that level, lik myself, are not there for fun anymore, we're there to make it far

this goes out to all gumnastics coaches that are like these: do you ever think that maybe they try but you just can't be satisfied with their best? I would really like to see you do those things when you know you can't. just think that maybe all these girls want is to have some fun without you getting mad at them for every little mistake. Think about that when you get mad at them.

i trained in a gym very opposite of that my whole life & now coach here. i can't imagine putting up w/ that so long & for what? the majority of those girls won't make it to the Olympics or get a college scholarship. then they'll feel like they wasted their life being criticized. as a coach, i can never imagine treating anyone that way. there are many gyms that are competitive & still know how to HAVE FUN! it saddens me to think that this is what people think gymnastics is all about.

I think a lot of the tears is also due to frustration. you know like when they try and try again at a certain thing and still can't get it right.
@itskelseyjamison16 жыл бұрын
because they are frustrated, and some of them are injured and in pain. imagine trying something over and over, and you can't do it. you're fed up and tired, and in pain. you're coaches are yelling at you, and all that you want to do is leave the gym and yell back. all you want to do is get the school, and prove the coaches wrong by showing them that you can do the skill. its hard sometimes and very frustrating

Nicole, [the girl at 3:27] has always been emotional. She didn't quit, she stopped when she made it to the Olympic Trials but had to w/draw because of an ankle injury. Bill Strauss was really good w/ her, & that's just the way Nicole is. I'm not disagreeing with the support needed, but I think the coaches overall could see what was best for the girls. And I'm sure most of the girls liked the coaches at Parkettes, else they wouldn't have stayed as long as they did there [Nicole, Tia, Sharky]

I find this kind of upsetting...I've been doing gymnastics since age 5 (recently quit due to moving) and I have difficulty remembering ever being as upset as these girls..you can tell that everytime they mess up they're just waiting for their coach to come over and start yelling at them. if gymnastics is your thing, it should never make you that upset.
@perfect10nnrg17 жыл бұрын
you don't understand. gymnastics is the only love you have. we may complain a lot about it, but its our lives and we don't know what we'd do without it. it teaches you how to be strong, not physically but emotionally. when your coaches abuse you they are preparing you for worse situations to come. again, anyone that has been training as long as i have knows what im talking about. nobody else would understand
