Small first Fell but a steep climb up and a very expansive summit as well. Great place to have a stop on Heron Pike, so underrated, as that view is amazing. It was winter and -10C when I was there last and solid ice, so pleased I packed my spikes. Disappointing cairn on Stybarrow Dodd and shame about the returning mist on Raise and you went down the way I went up to raise, when I did that in the summer with Whiteside and Helvellyn and a real nice walk down too. Cheers Alan

Good route that Ashley & Andrea. Shame about the views from Stybarrow Dodd and Raise but glad you enjoyed Heron Pike, it's one of my favourites. Thanks for sharing. Regards Kevin

Thanks Kevin, we loved Heron Pike, could have stayed for ages there. We also loved the view walking down the valley towards Glenridding, but we love all the Lake District views!! Regards, Ashley

Hi Ashley i have walked all over the Lake District. I came down to the Travellers Rest with my chums from Northern Ireland and at 25.05 my friends and i climbed up the shale pass on the RHS on your video. Fantastic footage. Colin

Thanks, Colin, it was a lovely walk all round but not at all easy. Glad we came down the loose shale and not up it but the views into the valley and Ullswater were outstanding. Thanks for watching, regards, Ashley

Hi Ashley, Hi Andrea, brilliant walk, and a fair old distance. Still to do all those apart from Raise. Looked a breezy one, but you got some cracking views. Thank you ever so much for sharing your days adventure with us as ever. All the very best Dave 😀⛰🥾

Thanks again for watching Dave. All these videos make me want to go back again so tentatively planning for next summer. Andrea wants to get to 100 wainwrights and she's currently on 89 so we have to go back! Regards, Ashley

@@ashleyjarnold Brilliant stuff Ashley, that’s really good. I’m in 106 so just one short of halfway. Me and Mossy are hopefully out next Sunday ticking off another 5! 🤞

If I lived near the Lakes I think I'd try to do them all. It's hard for us when we only come for a fortnight each year - by the time we're 70 we should have them all done!!

Nice spot for a picnic, that place is vast the last section looked a bit dodgy in places coming down, sticks pass looks a nice walk, an easy walk back into Glenridding after all that absolute Troopers. Over 16k and you never got you bpm over 100 now that's fit . Grub looked delicious chicken burger and chips, you both earned it.

Definitely a big walk in terms of both distance and elevation, scenic and not too many people. Weather conditions spooked us a bit but so glad we kept going. There were other routes down but very happy with the way we went. Thanks for watching, regards, Ashley

Good call turning back to sticks pass from Raise.. If you continued round I think you would have been forced down Swirrals edge to get back to Glenridding which I found rather unpleasant.. Great vid, Cheers :)

Yes, thanks Dave, I think there was a path down the nose of Raise but in that clag we'd have struggled to find it. We would probably have ended up on the ski slope!! Regards, Ashley

Thank you for this. Where exactly on her side road did you turn right. I can't find a designated path on my OS Map.

Julie, you'll have to tell me at which point on the video please? I have often found that the OS Map does not always have the best route marked so navigating new area can always be a challenge! Regards, Ashley

You go past the pub then do a right. Shortly after there looks like a turning right and I think you said you go to some cottages and turn right. Next you walk over a cattle grid? I got a bit confused about getting to the cottages and then a right. I can't find a marked path on my map that's all. 🙂

Julie, it's not marked on the OS Map but there are signs showing you were to go. After the pub you walk a short bit, take right, the the nest left fork, past the first cottages, over the cattle grid and then take right. I watched other videos to get the route. Hope that helps, Ashley
