I have seborrheic dermatitis and have dealt with it for the past 15 years. My scalp flakes in the same exact spot. But I recently cut out all dairy and my scalp no longer flakes. If I have a high sugary snack day, I'll also flake. Since the issue is fungal/yeast, it makes sense that the sugars would be the issue. Changing my diet has been hard lol but i feel better now this year than i have my entire life so it's absolutely worth it if anyone else is experiencing anything similar. The dermatologist just wanted to give me steroid treatments and i dont believe in treating symptoms instead of the cause. Especially when it deals with manipulating my hormones.
@kimmcfadden467911 күн бұрын
Seborrheic dermatitis is a different condition than psoriasis. I did use a steroid called Hydrocortisone and I only used it briefly to clear my scalp up. Yes it does have chemicals but it's not designed for long-term use anyway. I did not change my diet and my scalp has been clear for over 10 years. My hair stopped shedding so much and it also grew better.

@@AshleyMassegirl DONT try ACV rinses with scalp psoriasis! Trust me, as a fellow scalp psoriasis sufferer, stick with Sulphur 8. It stinks but you can make it less noticeable with essential oils and a yummy leave-in (I use lavender oil & Knot Today leave-in and the smell totally masks the sulphur). ACV will make your scalp sores open up and become inflamed. My scalp used to bleed with ACV until I stopped using it and the sores closed. It’s not dandruff and cannot be treated like it!

Sorry, maybe i missed it, but did you not use a rinse out conditioner? I dont think you should skip rinse out and go straight to leavein conditioner on loose natural hair(not locs). My stylist says that leave in is watered down rinse out conditioner that can be left in and its supposed to be a supplement to conditioning...leave in isnt able to reset your hair after shampoo the same way rinse out conditioner does as rinse out is specially formulated to leave a coating/a deposit that neutralizes the negative charge on hair left after shampoo.

My hair goals: I've been trying to understand my hair for my entire life. My mom does my hair but I want to learn how to do it on my own and learn how to help her with hers when needed. She relaxed my hair. It's very coarse so it ended up being texlaxed. Even so, I am now a transitioner as of June 2024. I want to transition back to natural hair, learn how to properly take care of my hair, and grow it to at least waste length. I don't want it too long because I love changing up my styles often and some days I'm fighting for my life not to just go bald so styles like chiney bumps (bantu knots) come in handy. I just want to learn and be happy with it. Then I can help my children one day to learn their hair as well :) I also have a lot of hair trauma so I'd love to work through that too...

I have thick hair (not as thick as yours) so I often have scalp issues. I've found my scalp issues have to do with mold or mildew on the scalp and in the hair not a skin condition. That Sulfur 8 will definitely do the trick along with putting Tea Tree oil on your hair. If it is mold or mildew try not to go to bed with wet hair wrapped in a bonnet, try a satin/silk pillow case instead. The bonnet locks in the moisture but your hair because of its thickness, needs to have air circulation.
