Alright so ummmm... I’ve been traveling since I was like 2 so I think I have a say and let me tell you, if you fold your clothes in a specific way and then put it in an airtight bag you can get twice the stuff in. Rolling makes it impossible to organize the clothes and folding takes up to much space so what do you do? Airtight bags. I went on a month long trip with a carry on and used this technique, and I didn’t have to buy a single thing. Thank me later.

this is superrrr late but it just came up in my recommended! just in time for my trip to england. with that said, i stand by folding. since i am staying for about a month, i am doing laundry and will have access to an iron. so, if my things get creased it doesn’t really matter. when i fold i can stack. if i roll, i can’t stack because in a carry on it doesn’t fit. (yes, i am packing for a month in a carry on. rewear things people) some things i roll but i find folding shirts so much easier to pack and save space.

I love that I'm not the only one who does all the things you mentioned. Most "travel tip" videos are about packing less/lighter, not really accounting for those who want/need to bring back more than they came with. When I travel around the US, I use a regular school sized backpack with outer pockets (for compartmentalizing) as a carry-on and stick a collapsible, yet made up of a heavy duty material for checked bags, for bringing stuff back to my friends. When traveling overseas to the Philippines, I have my carry-on for my stuff. And then 2 check-ins for my family. Mainly gifts and home stuff like food that you can't get there or is cheaper in US. On the way back to the US, I do a bag in a bag checked in, and the inner bag with gifts and my favorite snacks not found here. I also like the feeling of saying I got my blouse or something in another country. My favorite was a lightweight scarf from France. I bring a pillow case for dirty clothes. Or if I am going to a beach vacay where stuff is ideally wet, I have one of those wet bags for towels and swim suits that doubles as a laundry bag.

For cold weather coats and bulky items we used a vacuum bag or the ones you roll up for them. They compress to almost nothing and lie flat on the bottom on your suitcase. This way you don’t NEED to wear the heavy coats on the plane. We also used packing cubes and LOVE THEM!

Oh My Gosh. Where was I when this video was uploaded?? The "Bag in the Bag" tip is SO useful as well as the "2 in 1" suitcase tip. When it's time for me to leave my trip and pack for home, I ALWAYS need an extra bag because of multiple souvenirs for my friends and the new clothes I bought for myself... etc.

Love the video, but I have an unpopular opinion on one of your tips: fold your clothes. I travel almost 5 times internationally and 3 times domestically a year (for school and family) so I feel pretty qualified to share my experience. I have tried rolling my clothes many times before and it just never works! Packing cubes are great for rolling... if you want to spend extra money. Personally, I try to minimize my expenses for things inside my suitcase. Anyways, every time I folded my clothes (neatly and flat!), I always fit about 2 weeks worth of clothes in my medium-sized suitcase on top of shoes and makeup and bathroom supplies and gifts that I buy from the place. Honestly, though, it is whatever works for you personally... whether that's rolling or folding. I just found taking the time to neatly plan out your items and folding your clothes is a more effective way. Thanks for the video!

i discovered a trick/tip about a week ago when i flew to portland from san diego. i only took a carry on bag, and a backpack. i didn’t pack any toiletries and instead purchased them when i got to my destination. i was in portland for a week and the travel size toiletries at target are of an adequate size that i won’t have any item left over. more room in my carry on and don’t have to worry about the 3-1-1 rule.
