Let's spend the next 24 hours together as I share what our daily routine looks like as first time parents with a newborn. 🤍 Do you currently have a newborn or you've already been through this stage? I want to hear what your routine looks like or any lessons you've learned along the way! 🫶

Nice video brings back memories of my son (33) and how happy and contented we were, basically you’re taking care of your baby, I did nap when he napped in the beginning, do you try that.? You must take good care of all of you, I love that Christopher has his bottle with him first thing. Congratulations you are doing great.

Congratulations! I've been through newborn stage twice and watched a lot of baby content. Never have I ever seen a co-sleeper/crib on dad's side before. Curious how you came to this choice and what the pro's are!

I am 53 and my kids are 23, 32, and 34. My middle child had his first baby after several rounds of IVF with his wife. I am blessed enough to be trusted to care for my granddaughter while her parents work. She is now 11 months own and the absolute light of my life. I never thought it was possible to have love like this. I cant even describe how incredibly special it is. The time goes so very, very fast. The saying is so true that the days are long, but the years are short. Embrace each moment and each stage. Oliver is precious. I love his emotional support hand. 💚

I hope new moms don’t feel discouraged by this video. To me, it’s so unrealistic and unrelatable. I’m on leave with my 3rd baby and I’m so tired in the mornings I don’t even have a chance to shower or get myself ready, my husband works and can’t take the baby all morning let alone go for walks, I can barely get 5 oz in 30 mins pumping, and baby wakes up 3 times a night. Know everyone’s different but if anyone feels like me, please know you’re not alone.

Plus her baby doesn’t cry at all! Like, what does she want to do? Help other moms or show her day, because it’s perfect? I don’t think I can believe that her baby spends the whole day without crying. That’s the most difficult part, in my opinion: to tolerate the yelling and to understand the baby is just willing to communicate. It’s super stressful.

Ashlynne, thank you so much for sharing this video. It was so special to see you and Christopher working together as partners and parents. What you two have is truly an inspiration. I’ve been here many years now and today was the first time I’ve ever read a rude comment. I wanted to be defensive because I was offended for your little family. I don’t like conflict so I just kept my thoughts to myself and prayed. I want to send encouragement y’all’s way and say you’re doing such a great job! Also your purple flowers on your patio were so nice to admire. 🙏🏻💜

I live in Raleigh. We have a 6, 4, and 2 year old. I'm due with our 4th in November. When there is just one, there is a lot of opportunity to rest and get things done if needed. Take advantage of those moments and I always tell first time moms, once you get them sleeping, things get a lot easier. My favorite age is 5 months to 1 1/2 years. That's such a fun time(assuming you have a sleeping baby). Enjoy

Yes the nursing can be so difficult! I shed many tears as well! I will say I do think some babies naturally nurse easily and others don’t. One of my sons and I really struggled. But my other son from moments after birth nursed like a champ.

I can't watch the full video but it's not because of you. It's definitely just a sore spot for me since I didn't get much physical support and I felt like postpartum was the most dehumanizing experience because I rarely got to shower, eat, feel human, have 5 seconds alone, etc. I'm happy you guys were able to find something that works for you. We're expecting baby 2 and I am definitely not ready for the newborn phase again. I LOVED the newborn phase without the dehumanizing aspect where I could not do anything for myself 😅

I’m pregnant with baby #2 due in September. You’re doing so amazing! Breastfeeding is hard. I took it one week at a time and ended up breastfeeding for 13 months. When my daughter was about 10 weeks old, I started taking her to story time at the library. It was a nice free activity. They have baby times with songs. Lots of fun! She loved watching all the other kids. We still go to different story times at least once a week and she’s almost 2.

You are a perfect team when it comes to caring for oliver.❤ I have three little ones right now (5 y, 3 y and 4 month) so our mornings are quite different (we started at 4.45 am today) and i can never get my baby (or even the older two) to go to sleep on their own.😅 Also we are out numberd with 3 kids and 2 adults. What i was missing is any advice on spending time with god. I love your inspiration on that topic, as i loved your bible study time before baby.

What you said about underestimating breastfeeding is so common! I was the same way. It was such a huge learning curve but with my second baby I had that super easy/natural experience right off the bat since I knew so much more (and she was just better at it than my son). Between the two of them I’ve breastfed for 2 years now and it’s been such a beautiful experience!

Wow I caught this early 🤣. I’ve been wanting to give some (unsolicited, sorry, ik 😅) parenting advice coming from a teenager, for when little Oliver grows up a bit, about any future school work. He’s gonna receive a lot of pressure to do well in school. Especially if he already pressures HIMSELF to do well, the last thing he needs is pressure from his parents. My dad always put pressure on me, while my mom was actually the one who would tell me to go outside and play 😅. It took a lot of habit-unlearning to unwind myself from that mindset of giving it my all in my schoolwork. I’d say a really good general rule is: give 90% of your total effort. You need energy for things that are important, and his life doesn’t need to be school. He needs energy to spend with his family and friends too :) just wanted to say that, because I know a lot of parents put a ton of pressure on their kids to do well in school, but i know you’ll do great :)))

Ahh this makes me miss the newborn stage, my daughter is 5. Y'all are doing so great with your teamwork. Motherhood looks good on you and you guys seem like naturals, in your other videos you always gave off a nurturing energy. I only breast fed for about a couple weeks. My daughter was given a bottle of formula when she was born and chugged it down lol so she got hooked. Hoping if I decide to have any more children it would be more smoothly.

I tracked everything with our two children as well. I had worked in childcare and was a nanny before having our children, so it was natural for me to write down diaper changes nap times feeding times et cetera Of course, This was in '97 and 2000, before cell phones/apps. I had made a zyrox copy for a baby binder and had made hundreds of copies, one for every day... I had included a little bit of art on each page... And filled out A. fresh page for each day to log down all of those details. The binders are a sweet memory to look back on! It is kind of surreal to think I could tell you rn, feeding times and amounts, diaper changes and naps....and then special things about the day when say our son was 3 months and 4 days old ha ha. I kept these binders up for each of our children until even-well much after- their first year.. Both of our children were big sleepers as well and I used to tell people they liked their sleep like me ha ha Our daughter slept through the night when she was born and I used to worry I should be waking her to feed her but she just would sleep and sleep. Our son would take three hour naps when he was a toddler! To this day, they still love their sleep❤❤ That is SOO wonderful you are able to succeed at breastfeeding, that you had such greatsupport. Our son never did successfully latch on well and our daughter was not an eager eater in the beginning so it was very hard for me. I dealt with a lot of guilt not breastfeeding them. It is so wonderful to see the support tht people have now and also, tht there is no judgment either way!! You are a wonderful mom and so much Of what you do reminds me of how I felt and what I used to do😊❤ God bless your your sweet family❤❤ P.S. Aren’t those bouncy seats wonderful? ( A staple that has stuck around for forever) I also love the new-to-me trend of baby wearing/carrier napping/contact napping. I think that was just beginning to become popular after our daughter was born in two thousand so I missed out on that!

Wow! Oliver is such a good baby! My first daughter (she is now 25, a doctor and married) never slept a whole night until the age of 3 and she used to wake up 3 to 5 times a night. At first I used to breastfeed her exclusively but I got so exhausted that I finally gave it up when she was three months old. I used to blame myself, thinking I did not have enough milk and so she was hungry all the time. But it turns out she was an incredibly active and intelligent child. My second was better and started sleeping the night at around 6 months old. She is now 20.

We have to wake up our son every 4-5 hours to eat otherwise he wakes up super cranky out of hunger. I also need to feed/pump that often to keep up my supply, and I don’t even have to output that you seem to (kind jelly, not gonna lie😅). Did you ever wake to pump/feed in the night, and if so, how did you transition Oliver to sleeping a straight 8 hrs (or was it just natural on his part?). Thanks in advance, and keep up the great work as a parent!

You're doing great!! I don't think I brushed my teeth or made the bed for quite a while after our daughter was born. 😆 it looks like you're settling into motherhood so well!!!

That’s insane he’s sleeping that much so young. My six month old doesn’t even sleep 8 hours straight.

That’s totally normal! Every baby is different. But I do think Oliver is on the early side when it comes to sleeping as much as he does. He loves sleep just like mom 🤍🤍

Just be prepared that this may change... But DEFINITELY enjoy it esp in the beginning as some moms don't have the same luck.. lol 2 under 2 here, my NB sleeps much better than my older she sleeps 5-6 hrs sometimes longer if I can dream feed. My 1st was 3-4 hrs religiously. I weaned her from overnight feeds & into regular milk @ 11 mths but currently her year regression & growth spurt is kicking my butt. It's hard when they're both awake/fussing but so thankful even for now that at least #2 sleeps a bit longer 🙌🏽 I hope she always will be a good sleeper but I'm prepared for her 4 mths regression 🫣

Eggs and soldiers! Is that what you call them? We had them for the first time in New Zealand in 2018 and make them all the time now! Also, how sweet is Oliver?? Especially all bundled up. Omg brings back the new born memories 🥹❤

What a fun name! I grew up calling them “dippy toast” because that’s what you do with the bread. But I think that was a family name 😂

So many judgy comments 😅 my first slept great like that too, and my next 3 were pretty good sleepers too! Also had sooo much milk, a blessing but not comfortable and can make nursing difficult, especially in the beginning! You’re doing so great! Oliver is so precious and I’m so happy for you guys! ❤❤

Hi there new mama. I am so happy for you. God bless your little family. I will have to ask you. Why do you use swaddling cloth? Isn’t this a little inconvenient for the baby? In Greece, where I come from, our grandmothers used to apply this method. Nowadays thought, all the child psychologists and physicians, forbid as from using swaddling cloth. Does your doctor agree with that?

...to think that in the 80s and before then, we had no apps, so phones like that, no owlets, no wraps- we used receiving blankets, no special nursing pillows, no vitamins for new borns, disposable diapers were just coming in and many of us used clothe diapers except for when going out. there were no special chairs for the babies. there was a swing that u had to wind up about every 5 minutes.

Some things were easier though. In the 80’s people also had outside for older kids. Now HOA’s throw a fit if you have a basketball hoop up and people call CPS if kids are out alone.

During the day, yes (and still do). But once Oliver regained his birthweight our doctor said we were able to let him sleep a longer stretch at night. So after the one-week mark (when he hit it), we were able to let him sleep for as long as he was able to one time and that’s gradually gotten longer so that now he sleeps 7-8 hours straight at night. 🤍
