A delightful presentation, thank you very much! It is now 2023 and, thank God, the worst of the Pandemic has gone away, but it was quite intense and I can appreciate the effect it must have had on your museum. (As many other places). I truly enjoyed watching and learning more about my favourite group of painters, the Pre-Raphaelites. I hope many people will get to see this program, as you preserved a special moment in time for many more viewers to admire these works. I wish I could see them in person. Many regards to you!

Excellent film of an amazing exhibition. For example, I am overwhelmed by John Ruskin's drawing "Study of Gneiss Rock" (starting at 29:28 in the video). What a strange, obsessive mind, to spend days and months on one drawing of a smallish chunk of rock... the result is breathtaking.

Good video on the pre- Raphaelites, showing the Ruskin drawings and telling the story about his wife. The BBC drama seemed to put Ruskin as the person that wanted to join his with Millais from the beginning of his acquaintance .

A very interesting and informative video, despite the slightly annoying " handing over" from one expert to another. What an exciting time it must have been despite the social & economic upheavals, art captures these moments in history so beautifully, despite some of the works being a more romanticised version of what truly was happening, its still fascinating. Thankyou for the brilliant upload, to be able to preview these great works of art that are rarely shown to the public, it was a real treat!

I visited the exhibition on Saturday. It was a bit uncomfortable with a mask on but I’m so glad I was lucky enough to see it. Beautiful exhibition and really informative film. Thank you Ashmolean! 🌹

Thank you. A beautifully produced video, providing some important and essential background information on the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood together with a stunning collection of sketches and drawings.I would mention also, that the artists enjoyed a great deal of support from various people and businesses around the Merseyside area. At age twelve I discovered the astonishing collection of Pre-Raphaelite work in the Lady Leverhume Art Gallery in the wonderful Port Sunlight Village, and was captured for life :) As a Merton College alumnus, I spent many hours within the Ashmolean and it`s own collection of works, but alas, as I live on the other side of the world, will not see this exhibition with my own eyes - so this has been a marvelous video to find - many thanks indeed.

What a superb piece. I am, by my own admission, not an "art buff" at all as I just don't understand most of it. I do, however, have a great fondness for the absolute beauty (there can be no other word) for the PRB and have even visited some of the places they painted (including Ophelia, perhaps the only painting I am truly in love with). Thank you so much for this wonderful "film" making, even under the most trying of circumstances. It has helped me wonderfully to alleviate my insomnia this night.

Many of these drawings and watercolours are known to me through reproductions. This video places these images in the context of their time and making. I particularly appreciate the extended presentation of Rosetti's stunning drawing of Jane Morris (beginning at 14:20). For years I've wondered at the choices made by the Artist in this piece. Your commentary answers many questions and deepens my appreciation for this masterwork.

when you say that the work is light sensitive, does that mean only sensitive to natural sunlight? does electrical light also have an degrading effect on the materials as well? thanks for sharing.

Light waves, no matter the source, have the same effect on art. Lightbulbs are made to emit specific wavelengths, making it better than unadulterated sunlight.

I would have preferred a lot less talking heads and a lot more art! Not all of us can get to England. As a HUGE fan of Pre-Raphaelites, I appreciate what you shared. BUT too much talk talk talk and not enough art. Much of the art was shown sideways and soft focus. WHAT is that about??
