@@AshrafonCars, yes, I know that they were about the same price as a Jaguar E-Type in Britain when they were new, so perhaps they are a bit of a bargain in that respect! Mind you, I don't think I will be able to afford one for some time to come...

Thanks man! You have a good channel... I had the same fiat years ago 128 3p. 3p means 3 porte (3 doors). Then I bought another one 128 sport cupe. Has a different back, much more sportiest. Then I used the first one for spare parts and I built one good one. The original engine was 1300cc with 75 hp. The gearbox I installed from Fiat Ritmo 5 speed. With 75 hp was a pretty fast car, he had only 800 kg. And I want to buy one back!!! ✌

At the opening for the "winter Setting" on the airbox, there is supposed to be a long tube going deeper into the engine bay that is apparently missing on your car. Its not a big deal, its missing on most fulvias, just so you know if you happen to find that part somewhere..
@AshrafonCars3 жыл бұрын
Cheers. I did realise this later (this was over a year ago now), I believe the pipe draws warmer air from the manifold area.

Just finished getting my 74 Alfa Romeo Spider back on the road as my daily driver. Lancia Fulvia HF is my next project car. Not many in the US but you can find them if you look hard enough.

Excellent. You have to get the petrol through the system into the carbs after a rebuild. The pump is worked mechanically, not electrically. The good thing is that the cranking also pushes the oil around the engine so it’s lubed up when the engine fires up.
@AshrafonCars4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jo. I've since fitted an electric pump (as seen in my latest Fulvia) - fires up very quickly!

Nice, I've had a 1975 s3 for the last 7 years, seen one in italy around 15 years ago at a classic car show, some fairly pricey exotics at it to, but the gentle unstated style of the fulvia, it was the one, i promised one day it will happen, and many years later, it did, 1st rebuild was 2 years taking it easy, and now in the last 6 months its had a new front right wing arch and rear lower half back panel and a good bit of bodywork love, its primed, and soo nearly there, take 2, Anyways i put on a set of delortos, so have a spare set of solexes if anyones on the hunt for a pair, drop a line, Changed all the brake lines, rear leaf springs and all new dampers, it was fairly endless really, theres something special about them, . So whatever it takes must be done, the sound is so good.. enjoy k

Glad I found this channel. I just bought a Fulvia too (fortunately in better starting condition than this one) but I'm very interested in learning more about them and seeing what you do with yours. I have considered doing trumpet-style intakes as well but a lot of older Lancia guys will yell at you to keep the stock air box because it was "properly engineered for maximum efficiency and power." I'm never really sure who to believe, so maybe I can put faith in you to test it out once and for all. I look forward to more Fulvia videos! Amazing little cars!
@AshrafonCars5 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! You've made a great choice, they're wonderful cars. I have also been strongly advised to stick with the standard air box - I will most likely keep it but it might be nice to do a comparison on the dyno. Thanks for watching, more progress coming soon!

@@AshrafonCars Since you have a limited edition "Rallye" that's already in less-than-mint condition, I highly recommend just having fun with it and going all out with the rally car route. Make it aggressive and playful. You definitely won't regret it. I'm in an awkward position because my Series 3 car is beautifully restored so I am battling myself between modifying it to be the road rally car of my dreams versus keeping it as original as possible. Your car is a perfect candidate for the rally car treatment, it's even the right color.
@AshrafonCars5 жыл бұрын
@@krudmuphinstudioz you make a very good point. I'm at the stage where I can choose exactly what I want the car to be, but for me I think I'd like it as original as possible. I have an 1972 Alfa Giulia that I've modified and that's huge fun, so I think I want the Fulvia to be the more relaxed of the pair 😄
@AlexR_R12APR5 жыл бұрын
If you keep the original airbox, there should be a tube that connects from the E/I intake switch around the back of the engine over to the exhaust to pick up hot air to help with cold starts. Also, if you've left it for a while the fuel pump can take a bit of time to get petrol through... squirt from EasyStart spray into the airbox and it'll start nice and fast. Lovely little cars that put a smile on your face and get a great reaction.
@AshrafonCars5 жыл бұрын
I have been told about the tube, will get one fitted! A whole host of parts have just arrived, it should be on the road quite soon - can't wait!

Trumpet filters definitely over the stock air box though I would keep, restore and store the stock box for when you wish to return to stock. Even that air box was metal and not cheap plastic. The Series 1 is so nice, I like them all but the tach in the series 1 HF is my must find mod if I can’t find an original Fanalone.
@AshrafonCars4 жыл бұрын
In the end we stuck with the airbox - my Giulia is already a noisy, angry machine so I though I'd take a different approach with this. It's being tuned up as we speak so watch this space!
@henryhol85385 жыл бұрын
Well done! Will the sporty induction sound be heard with the airbox in winter mode? If so you have your answer. It seems the wooden dash was replaced (in later models) by plastic imitation wood, looks like you have bought the right year. Jay Leno is also a fan of the over engineered aspect of this era of Lancias.
@AshrafonCars5 жыл бұрын
Thanks dude! Perhaps it will, I'll try it! Very true about the wood - this is a series 1 car, so there are lots of nice little details you don't get with the later ones!
@anderslaugeprip37335 жыл бұрын
They were original wood vernier dash from start till the end. But there were bad plastic imitation aftermarket ones.
@anderslaugeprip37335 жыл бұрын
You need a tube fitted on the air box nose to collect hot air from above the manifold when in Inverno mode.

Does the Fulvia have a mechanical feul pump? If it's like my Alfa Spider it takes a lot of cranking to fill the carb float chambers when it hasn't been used for a while.
@AshrafonCars5 жыл бұрын
Yes it is indeed a mechanical pump, hence it cranking over for ages! Some swap in an electric pump but I don't think I'll bother.
@1240enzo5 жыл бұрын
Engine degreaser and a steam clean is what you need to do to clean up the engine and engine bay. A much more effective way of doing this kind of grotty job. I seem to recall that my Fiat AC 124 Sport had a similar setup for summer and winter, on its single Weber. Mind you these days it has a twin 40 Weber’s and sports filters.
@AshrafonCars5 жыл бұрын
That's what I had planned, but unfortunately the steam cleaner wasn't available! Bet your Fiat sounds wonderful.

Had loads of Fulvias. Dont bother pumping the throttle. Put a facet fuel pump in to prime the mechanical pump, then switch it off before starting. The long turnover is the engine trying to generate enough oil pressure to suck the fuel from the tank. Youll kill many batteries and the ring gear this way. Fit an electronic fuel pump that allows the mechanical pump to draw fuel through it after you switch it off. Keep the mechanical pump because it regulates the fuel pressure according to engine revs which the electronic pump wont.

great little Fulvia in a wonderful colour.. in my opinion the dash panel looks good enough to refit, a new one is almost always too shiny and dark. i would not do much to the appearance of the car, but make it mchanically sound. about the carb intake: you could opt for the curved inlet trumpets. Here is a link to a tuned 1.2 HF kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4fXgJ-GrdB5atU

Thank you! I agree with you about the new dash panels, however I am friends with a veneer specialist and will make sure it's like the original finish. I'd love curved trumpets, would sound great - I'd have to use trumpet socks though 🙂
