Dinesh Ji is a beautiful flute maker. He is though new, but he crafts his flute as if he has been making since decades. I have his one flute of A Base. It's beautiful. His threading pattern has changed, it looks great with golden threads. As Ashwin sir has said have one-two flute maker who is 'yours', I guess, DP sir would he the one for me :) By the way, thank you Ashwin sir for these series. Some years back I used to listen Vrindawani sarang on loop and today you have included something as miniscule but equally important thing.

G Scale Bass should be good. My son could play it when he was 6 years old. I could play an E Bass at 8. Introducing the real deal early on, makes them keep the interest intact. :)

Ashwin ji very good flute review. Thank you. While reviewing you mentioned that this flute is as good as one of your best flute. Just wonder shall we know who is the maker of your best flutes? I have used Harshwardhan ji’s flute (supposedly among the best) and also tried Punam flutes and Anubodh flutes. So I said that. :) Taking a few names and missing out on others would be inappropriate and also out of context for the episode.

As far as I understand, originally the word javeri is used in the context of tanpura where a thread is moved along the curved bridge till the string is raised slightly above the bridge but will touch the bridge during every vibration. This increases the sound output as well as higher harmonic content due to chopping. Similar effect is achieved in bansuri (for that matter any side blown flute) by making the edge of the blow (embouchure) hole (not the one over which lip rests but the opposite) sharper. If we see bansuri blow hole we note that this edge is not perpendicular to the surface but almost tangential. This presents a sharp edge to the wind flow and creates harmonics.

I don’t think your pain is because of the weight. It is most likely because of wrong posture and finger technique. (Having seen many people with similar issues, I can confidently say that). :)
