What other reforms are needed? Anytime they try a reform, people start marching on the streets (ex Farm Bills). Even a small and insignificant legislation like CAA which doesn't even impact Indian citizen, faces extreme resistance.

​@raw726 no reform can be brought if there is great public opposition. People in this country still want freebies and bailouts as opposed to major reforms. The last major reform was 1991 LPG reform, which was mandated by IMF. Anytime any economic reform is discussed, people start screaming Ambani, Adani, etc. So we only get the reforms we want. Democracy.

GDP per capita does not tells you how strong the economy is and what is their spending power..China's per capita is same as Maldives..does not mean maldive has strong sustainable economy or high buying power..China has over $4trill forex reserves while Maldives forex reserve is barely $588mill...US is called the strongest economy in the world even though much smaller Qatar, Lienchestein etc has far higher GDP per capita..world economy is shaped by country with bigger nominal GDP and not by high GDP per capita income nation
