In the South China Sea and the Pacific, the Chinese Communist Party has been pursuing a strategy to undermine American influence for the past decade. Relying on the active participation of maritime militias - fishermen trained by the military - China is creating a grey area between war and peace that destabilizes both its neighbors and the world's leading military power. As soon as he came to power in 2012, Xi Jining clearly stated his ambition for a national renaissance. He will combine this with the construction of a powerful army and a certain vision of Chinese territory, which includes the reunification of Taiwan. In this quest, control of the oceans has become a crucial issue, and America an obstacle.

China also illegally fishes in almost all parts of the world this is what happens when you have 1.4 billion people. Even there have the mind set grab it while it's there they don't think in terms of preserving. They can't even drink the water that comes out of the water tap. Very soon there will be wars over water we are very very lucky in Canada & the USA. The South China Sea claim isn't something dreamt up by CCP though. At its founding ROC (now confined to Taiwan) it already claims the SCS with 11 dash line. That was back in 1911. As its political successor on mainland China it inherits the SCS claim.
@andrews68 Жыл бұрын
But that doesn’t fit the western narrative lol no one in western media knows or acknowledges this fact, that technically democratic US ally Taiwan also claims entirety of South China Sea. Or that Taiwan also technically claims Senkaku islands vs Japan. Or that democratic allies Korea and Japan have dispute over Dokdo islands. Or that US ally Vietnam is not a democracy but also technically a communist country just like China, and claims most of South China Sea as well over claims by few other countries. But these inconvenient facts are brushed aside by media so people get an overly simplified black and white good vs evil narrative of what is actually a very very complex situation in east Asia.

Yes. And none of the claimants against China were sovereign countries then. They were all colonies and the 'owners' of those colonies didn't object to China's claims then, at the end of the world wars when spoils of war were being divvied up and territories claimed back from the losers of the war.

Then the ROC took advantage after the war and suddenly deploy a submarine to occupy the Japanese base built in spratly which is under by US and Dutch before the war. Then the Dutch leave Vietnam and Indonesia and give its territories including the some island in spratly to Vietnam. China suddenly claim 90% of south china sea after the war. The Chinese leader Xi saluted with his arm stretched at almost 180 degrees, at 2:00. This was not a Chinese salutation, especially when saluting in military parade. All salutations by both civilians and soldiers are made with the right arm bent less than 90 degrees with the palm reaching to the forehead.

It's said that the Chinese have been playing GO for 3000 years, showcasing their intelligence and strategic thinking. However, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) seems unprepared to challenge the United States, which has a history of being a global bully. Instead, the CCP should have bided its time for another 10-15 years until its own capabilities surpass those of the US. Nobody likes to be bullied, and the US is guilty of this behavior. It's admirable that China wants to stand up to the big bully, but it must succeed in doing so, as there is only one chance to do it right. If the CCP fails, the bully will strike back at the uprising and cause immense harm. The CCP deserves a 10 for its courage, but only a 1 for its strategic planning. NEXT!

Quote: "As far as commercial relationships go, the going theory was that increased contact between PRC and the west would gradually lead to democratization. If you look at the history of US and western relations with South Korea and Taiwan, both had oppressive military dictatorships. But their citizens had frequent contact with the west and this led to their eventual reform (in both instances after the military overplayed their hand and engaged in gratuitous brutality against their people) and both became model democracies. In the 1990s there was no reason to think this would not also happen in China, and indeed under Hu Jintao there were experiments with competitive elections in some small local legislative assemblies as well as open discussion in the People's Congress of allow private land ownership. Xi Jinping has ended these experiments but I have to say, the cat may already be out of the bag and in the fullness of time we may yet see a democratic China. Too many Chinese have studied and traveled abroad. Most families have relatives living abroad. Despite the censorship they know what their leaders tell them is not true and most do not harbor ill will towards the democratic nations like their leaders do. Xi seems like the kind of despot who will, like his predecessors in South Korea and Taiwan, overplay his hand, engage in some egregious brutality against his people that will lead to the downfall of the CCP. I remain hopeful." --DT

Now if i pack a lot of ships with lot of nukes and get them to park 13 miles outside NY or US and do it everyday in Inernational waters... how would you feel. Know the difference. Yet China has not done so . Today China's navy can take on the US fleet even near to US once enough shps are built and they are doing so now to build more modern navy ships vs old US ships. China is proven to be non provocative .

The Philippines should stop buying any products from China as well as all the other countries with this dispute Vietnam Malaysia, and they stop that that would hurt the Chinese. That’s what needs to happen they could buy all their little trinkets and things that they need in their markets from India Vietnam. They don’t have to get all those little things from China and shut every import it’s coming from China.
@AI-ih5or Жыл бұрын
This is not realistic at all, not to mention that there is a trade duty-free agreement between China and the Philippines. Even if a war breaks out between the two sides, the Philippines will not be able to sanction China through a trade war. You can ask Trump about this. The latest data shows that China's exports in April increased by 8%, and the monthly surplus was close to 100 billion US dollars. They are recovering quickly from the epidemic, and sanctions have no effect.

In fact, as a Chinese, I can say with certainty that despite some historical unpleasantness, such as the burning of our Yuanmingyuan by the Anglo-French Allied Forces, on the whole, Chinese people do not have a strong antipathy towards the West. In the end, it didn't kill many people ...... just robbed some money. Lives are priceless. There is only one country that is truly hated in mainstream public opinion, and that is Japan. They brutally massacred at least 35 million Chinese (since even our civil administration system was in complete disarray at that time, some historians estimate the real death toll from collateral secondary deaths, such as famine, to be over 50 million). Most importantly, it is outrageous that to this day, Japan refuses to recognize the war crimes committed. So I would suggest that if the U.S., or anything else, wants to stop China's rise through war, my personal advice would be to leave Japan out of it. It might be an ordinary war, but if Japan is involved, it might make all the Chinese people flat out bloodthirsty and crazy, and then even the Party won't be able to stop the rage.

_“This notion of victimhood is something that we know from the history of other countries as an exceptionally dangerous product.”_ Classifying one’s self as a victim means that there must be a victimizer. That leads to justifications for violence. Victim mentality is a key component of woke culture, ideology, and behavior. It is the same rhetoric used at the beginning of every genocide and act of mass murder by large groups of people in history. You should be very afraid of woke victim mentality. It’s a new variation along the same lines of post-modernism, neo-Marxism, anarcho-communism, ethno-nationalism, national socialism, democratic socialism, authoritarianism, totalitarianism, communism, socialism, Marxism, and Fascism. All of those boats are separate, but float down the same stream at different speeds and ultimately end up in the same lake of death and destruction.
