On this I absolutely agree. Nomad Capitalist has made this observation about KL several times as well. It is very difficult for a city to deliver all three of the following: 1) Generally good "city" offerings (public infra, entertainment, safety) 2) Relatively cheap by global city standards 3) Can get by with only speaking English Many other cities in this region (Bangkok, Singapore, Manila etc) and beyond (Istanbul, etc) can only deliver 2/3 of these. Easily the best place to retire to or work remotely from for someone from a wealthier country. Please note that I am talking about KL specifically, not Malaysia in general (everything gets worse outside greater KL).

I visited KL for the first time last month, the only complaint I have is some women who work and has bit of Authority are very rude example the lady’s at customs and those selling train tickets are rude and not helpful if you ask first directions. I had a $20 note with me to buy train ticket she would not take $20 saying she does not have change and I can could see the till is full of change. Another incident was we were at the bus terminal waiting for a bus to go to Malaka the bus was delayed and no announcements. After about 45 minutes of waiting a Korean lady got up and ask politely what time the bus will come to a lady who was in charge, she responded with “go and sit down now”

As a Malaysian, I'm glad to see someone who finally appreciates our country. However, I would also appreciate it if fewer people were to immigrate here. I like the cheap food, the subsidised petrol, electricity, and water. And I don't want an increase in demand (with an influx of people) to ruin that. Malaysia is ultimately a small country and we tread a delicate balance. We already punch far above our weight economically. And I'd like that to last.

Well this is the mentality that shall ensure that no Muslim country would ever equate to the US or Canada or UK or many other small European countries who welcome people of all different ethnicities from all over the world and every year people get naturalised and get passports. And us Muslims countries have skewed visions, if some one was to buy a house in Malaysia or a flat or a car that person would bring it decent amounts of investments and a job would guarantee taxes for the Government. Malaysia like all Muslim countries has a horrible naturalization program wherein getting a passport is a herculean task. So no wonder we are where we are and the west is where it is

There are a few things you will never hear in her videos. Hope this helps 🙂: - 1) Malaysian government's residency program MM2H is complex and has made it almost impossible for foreigners to attain residency. 2) For the above reason she will never name or recommend any solicitors in KL who can help you get residency through MM2H. 3) Foreigners investing in Malaysia are subject to a flat 30% tax on the income generated in Malaysia. And so, the ROI is very low. 4) Foreigners have to purchase a property worth a minimum of 1 Million MYR subjecting them to highly inflated prices. Example: A property worth MYR 300,000 to a Malaysian Citizen will be offered to a Foreigner at 1 Million MYR. 5) Even if you buy a 1 Million MYR property at such inflated prices, there is no guarantee you will get Malaysian Residency. 6) The average salary in Malaysia is very low. Sometimes it is only just enough to survive. 7) At the time of exit, investors will be stuck with a property they cannot sell unless they are ready to incur huge losses. 8) The weather is extremely humid and unbearably hot most of the times. Especially in the day time.
