Brian May (lead guitarist) wrote this specifically for their fans to be able to participate at their concerts. Usually followed by "We Are The Champions" which Freddie wrote. Btw, did you know that our dear Dr. May, besides being a legendary guitarist/songwriter, is also an astrophysicist who has collaborated with NASA, an author, an expert on 3D stereophonic photography AND one of Britain's foremost animal welfare advocates & protector of wildlife? The man is incredible. I finally got to see him perform live just 2 years ago. He's still GREAT & still playing the Red Special, the guitar he & his dad built (from scratch!) in their garage when he was a teenager. He & Roger Taylor (drummer) still sell out arenas when they go on tour & still put on a helluva show!💙☮💙

My mom and uncle took me to see Queen in 1980 when I was 8. My first concert. I remember the cigarette and pot smoke getting to me and had to go out to the concession stands to get some air where I witnessed people sick and puking. Remember like it was yesterday. Queen and AC/DC were my favorite rock bands at the time.

Written by Dr Brian May for the fans too have something else they could join in with, as the group heard the fans in the early days in the smaller places stomping to the tunes, and the rest is history, and it's filmed in Roger Taylor back garden, originally no drums so playing it live was slightly harder for Roger with the drum beat, they also recorded Spread Your Wings on the same day in Roger garden, that song was written by John Deacon

Great reaction to this classic! Freddie said that he felt it odd that the band closed their show with this song (and We are the Champions) after they had been rocking the fans all night so they created a “fast version” which they played to open some of their live shows. You should check out the fast version……it is also great and very high energy.

Ah, shucks, you paused right when the guitar solo kicked in! This song came out when I was in fourth grade and it didn't take long before every kid in school was banging out that beat on whatever they could get their hands on. Killer! But to get the full effect, you've really got to listen to "We Are The Champions" immediately following because that's how they flow on the album and how the two songs were always played on the radio back when, as if they were two parts of the same song. I remember buying their News of the World album for my little brother back then, because he liked "We Will Rock You" so much. But it wasn't long before I took it back from him because of the other songs on the album that he didn't like at all because he was too young to get them -- "Sheer Heart Attack", "All Dead, All Dead", "Spread Your Wings", "Get Down, Make Love" among them. That last one is rather funky and odd. Check it out when you can.

Queen is one of the biggest British rock bands formed in 1970. Freddie Mercury had one of the best voices around with an amazing range. He was a real showman as the live concerts show. "Bohemian Rhapsody" is their most famous song but they had so many great hits in the 70's-90's such as "We Are The Champions", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", "Love Of My Life", "You're My Best Friend", "Who Wants to Live Forever", "Somebody To Love", "Fat Bottomed Girls", "The Show Must Go On" etc.

I saw them in Philly three years in a row, 1975,76,and 77. The Night of the Opera tour in 76 was at the Tower Theater , where I had tickets six rows in front of Freddie’s piano. In 77 Thin Lizzy opened for them at the Philadelphia Civic Center. That concert ranks right behind Live Aid that I attended in 1985. Freddie was the greatest front man that I ever saw and I’ve seen them all.

Traditionally this song always precedes "We Are the Champions" So it carries the vibe from "in your face we got stuff to say" competitive vibe to "We win!" The albums, the greatest hits, even the radio stations play these back to back as a 1-2 punch songs. It became a standard to hear them together. Its amazing to consider when these songs were written, they probably never imagined they become anthems played around the world at every single sports venue at all genres, and generations. If I had to guess, We Will Rock You is probably THE most popular and most played song ever recorded. I always envied my dad's story - he saw them in L.A. in like '77 at some venue down the street from Disneyland. He was born and raised in Anaheim so he had access to a lot of events like this.

To be fair I was in the same boat as you two. Back in 1990!!! I was like 15. I grew up hearing 80's music and 90's was new stuff. Like you I've heard this song stomped too at sports games and especially HS rallys. It wasn't until a friend of mine in H.S. started exposing me to "classic rock" on his favorite radio station did I learn about the group behind this song. I'm surprised another 30 years later people are still reliving music discoveries like this. To put it in perspective that'd be like me back in H.S. (90's) listening to songs from like the friggin 30's and 40's. lmao. It blows my mind that the 60's to today are still weaved into movies and american culture as classic hits instead of just being forgotten and moving on with the stuff made in the last 20 years. Which imo I'm not all that impressed with as a whole.

Some of Freddie's lyrics, when you listen to them, can be savage. His song "Death on two legs" absolutely eviscerates the subject of the song because Freddy always put his emotions into his songs and pulled no punches. Many of the bands songs were written by the other members, notably Brian May and John Taylor, but Freddies were the ones that to me were raw emotion.

Didn't even need any music! Just stomp stomp clack and Freddie banging out the lyrics... Freddie had an aura about him...everyone who knew him said it. They knew when Freddie was in the room. When I watch Queen in anything, Freddie is all I can watch, his mannerisms, his moves, his sense of humour, his energy, his charisma...just everything.

Try “We Will Rock You (Fast Version)” live at Montreal ‘81 ! It’s so different and yet still freaking AWESOME.

I'm in my late 40's, and I never knew Queen had a video for this song 😮 Definitely heard this song hundreds of times in my life though. I'd recommend "Don't Stop me Now" from Queen, super catchy and huge radio hit.

👍 I've been really enjoying watching your videos. I like what you both have to say & how thoughtful you are about each song. You genuinely look like your interested & enjoying the music & having fun. When I first came across one of your videos that KZbin suggested I was a little sceptical about clicking on it because sometimes reaction videos seem like just a novelty watching people react to music that they might not normally listen to. But I'm glad I did. Your fun to watch & seem like you're very open minded to various kinds of music & have intelligent things to say about it. I've been binge watching. It's hard to stop. I keep seeing more great songs. I've become a fan of you both & will definitely subscribe to your channel. 👍🎶

Whenever this song was played on the radio it always went right into "We Are The Champions", another great song. It's weird to me hearing this without that one too! haha That one would be a great reaction too!

Here is a piece of trivia for you. Brian May the Lead Guitarist has a PhD in Astrophysicist which he received in 2007. Freddie Mercury was one of the best singers in Rock. Not to mention one of the best Front Men in Rock. Thank you for your reaction to this song, Asia and BJ.

I heard Queen made huge $ when the NBA started using this at their games...to me it's what I call a "Soccer Riot" song--Primal, Loud, and that angry vocal!

My cousin is about 3 years older than me, and I remember the day he had me listen to this song for the first time. Back then all we could do is sit around the radio and wait for the DJ to play the song we were waiting to hear. He told me that it was the best rock song he'd ever heard. Sitting you're listening to your comments before the video, I'm reminded of the debate my cousin and I had about the band. Did they call themselves Queen, because of the Queen of England, or did have something to do with being gay? At the time we didn't know, that Freddie Mercury was gay, and I decided it was a reference to the Queen of England.
