Paul was only 17 when he released this song. He's written more than 900 songs. He wrote Frank Sinatra's hit “My Way” and Tom Jones's “She's a Lady” He wrote Johnny Carson's theme song for the Tonight show & "Teddy," for Connie Francis. His portfolio is amazing.

Hello, relatively new subscriber. Enjoy your channel! Paul Anka always makes me think of Neil Sedaka - don't know why - "Laughter in the Rain" was huge. He's a goofy looking 70s singer (around since the 60s or late 50s), beautiful voice, lyrics, plays piano, too. Great songs! Sounds like a woman at times...high notes. "Solitaire," "Calendar Girl," "Breaking Up is Hard to Do," "Bad Blood" with Elton John (ok), "You Mean Everything To Me," "Oh Carol," "Happy Birthday, Sweet 16," "The Hungry Years," "Our Last Song Together," "The Miracle Song," "King of Clowns," "New York City Blues," "(I'm A Song) Sing Me," "Should've Never Let You Go," with Dara Sedaka (good one). Ronnie Milsap was a blind country singer & piano player. A 70s/80s legend you never hear about. Great songs & style, "It Was Almost Like a Song," "Smokey Mountain Rain," "I Wouldn't Have Missed it For the World," "Stranger in my House," "Lost in the 50s Tonight," "What a Difference You've Made in My Life" and "Any Day Now." Also, Samantha Sang's "Emotion" sounds like The Bee Gees. Barry - at least - sings on the track - and wrote it, I believe. I always thought it was a BeeGees song. If you ever listen, you'll see what I mean. Sounds like Barry! Then there's Frankie Valli (?) and the Four Seasons..."Can't Take My Eyes Off You," "My Eyes Adored You" (solo Frankie), "Who Loves You Baby," "December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)," "Walk Like a Man," "Sherry," "Rag Doll," " Sorry I didn't check to see if you'd done these. Started typing...

As he grew older, Paul Anka wrote what would become the signature song for Frank Sinatra: "My Way". But as a teenager in the 1950s, Anka was one of the first teen idols of Rock 'n Roll, when it was new and White folk were just starting to steal it from its Black creators. Paul Anka was born and raised in Ottawa, the capital city of Canada. In the mid to late 1980s, I performed in a few plays at the Ottawa Little Theatre, whose back side was on Paul Anka street - more of an alley, really.

People before me have mentioned other songs that made him popular back then, but he continued on through the years and wrote a lot of songs for other artists. It ALWAYS cracks me up when young people say "you can tell it's old cos it's in black and white" Well, we didn't have color TV back then. As far as MOVIES go, there were movies made in COLOR as far back as the 1930s, so there! LOL!

Thats two from Canadians and a third from a sweet Canadian Goddess is Shaniah Twain doing 'From This Moment On'. Us Canuks are romantics at the core. Thats why we are so slow to anger, but we are passionate and so when we do get mad look the fuck out.
