Many of us only know "Purple Rain" Prince. I was one of those. I went down the Prince rabbit hole, and I'm going on my 3rd month barely desiring to listen to anyone else. I'm still discovering new songs by him because he has such an extensive catalog. In my personal opinion, he is the G.O.A.T. The brother played multiple instruments, sang different genres, was a great dancer, wrote and produced the majority of his songs, and wrote hits for others like Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan, Madonna, Stevie Nicks, and Sinead O'Connor to name a few.

The word genius gets thrown around alot about musicians but in this case it's true. Prince was a clear musical genius. He was a gifted stage performer with charisma like Elvis had. He was just rockin enough for guys to listen to him and the girls adored him-myself included! The last time I saw him perform was in the mid90s and his energy and sex appeal just hung over that music hall. His brilliance is missed!

The gifted Prince. His catalog is humongous and I hope that you dive deep. Prince wrote arranged, produced played every instrument and sang lead and backing vocals on his first two albums. They were made in his basement. The amount of talent that takes is truly mind blowing. Pick a song, from any album, listen and enjoy. Great reaction guys. Looking forward to more Prince reactions. Did you know Prince was a GOAT on the guitar? Self taught, and he could play 27 instruments! But you HAVE to check out his MAD guitar skills!! I highly recommend “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” with Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne & others, a performance from the 2004 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony for George Harrison. Prince absolutely KILLS it with a mind-blowing three minute solo. 🤯🤯🤯 A live performance that can’t ever be beat! It’s a MUST SEE performance! 🔥🔥🔥🎸🥰🥰🥰🤘🏻🤘🏻

Prince! The great one! This man has had more hits, had his hands in other tunes, other artists. He is missed. I’m kinda biased to Raspberry Beret because I spent 13 years in the military and the 82nd Airborne wear red berets for Airborne school. I was I. The Guard so we did mostly stateside missions prior to 9/11. In 2005 we were activated to go do search and rescue in New Orleans after Katrina and during Rita. The 82nd sent a group of REMFs, if you don’t know as a Vet, they stayed in a hotel with one of the only places with electricity and hot water. We lived for two months in a parking lot without any of that. So needless to say we weren’t up to normal grooming standards. They have a D-Day museum there and the guy who runs it came and told us to come enjoy it and so AC. So we went and the 82nd had a bunch of troops there. I was an NCO and I had a CSMAJ run up on me and chew me out for not being properly groomed. My boss jumped k de deep in his ass about what we had been doing while his guys were pushing brooms through the French Quarter. So we had a copy of Prince’s Greatest Hits and a cd boombox and drove our trucks through their AO and blare Raspberry Beret to talk shit to them.

Her first CD she ever bought was "Purple Rain." I had to be one of the few guys where I grew up who liked Prince. Just amazing. Favorite songs by him; "Darling Nikki," "When Doves Cry," "1999", "Raspberry Beret," and of course "Kiss." A song I believe he wrote I liked was the, "The Byrd" by The Time.

Prince was also a pretty darn solid guitar player. I remember in the early 80's seeing a cheap commercial on TV advertising a show coming through a nearby big town, and it was this little guy in what looked like women's underwear and a cape dancing around...I thought 'Who is this freak?' A year or so later Purple Rain happened and I recognized him! lol

@@oldschool4382 Well, just depends on who you're using as a guitarist yardstick. Some of the most "impressive" things to non-players are the easiest, once you're pretty good. I always thought Prince's strongest point was songs, although he was a fine rock/R&B player.
