Not only did Prince write, produce, and arrange all his music, he also played all the instruments on this song as well as his first 5 albums. To say he was creative is an understatement.
@Great-Documentaries7 ай бұрын
He did NOT play all the instruments on his first 5 albums! You have no idea what you're talking about. Bobby Z and Andre Cymone were both brought in to Sausalito to help finish the For You album and check the liner notes written by Prince himself crediting various band members on the other albums. Prince played guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and he sang. That is ALL. And yes, there are whole albums were every sound you hear came from him. But don't oversell it. He doesn't need that to be considered the GOAT.

Prince was the Mozart of our times, really genius. Played 22 instruments (really a virtuoso), composed, sang, produced, danced, acted,---with more swag than anybody else. He, MJ and Madonna were all born in the Great Lakes Region within weeks of each other in 1958.

Prince & the Revolution. His live & in studio band.His guitarist at the time provided the back up vocals.The band's sound incorporated rock, pop, R&B, funk, new wave and psychedelic elements.I remember seeing this all the time on MTV when they played music videos "Raspberry Beret" "1999" "Let's Go Crazy" are some of his songs from the 80's that I hope ya'll react to

It's funny you say he's like his own genre. I have all my MP3s tagged by genre (and have since the 90s). All of my Prince songs have "Prince" as the genre. The Beatles are the only other artist(s) I do that with.

Now you should react to "Stand Back" by Stevie Nicks: Stevie was inspired by the synthesizer on this track when she was writing "Stand Back." When she got into the studio to record it she called Prince (because I guess famous people all know each other) to tell him, Hey, by the way, I stole your synth riff. Prince then COMES DOWN TO THE STUDIO AND PLAYS THE SYNTH ON THE RECORDING. He didn't get paid or even credited, but Stevie has told this story many times in interviews.

Prince was a big fan of Fleetwood Mac and typically made friends with artists who inspired him. He even initially wrote Purple Rain as a country duet for Stevie Nicks. He produced, composed and performed on songs and albums for Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle, George Clinton, Larry Graham and even Stevie Wonder on What’s the Fuss! Prince had parties at his Beverly Hills rental for years and Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder and others were typical guests. Prince played in his large living room and Stevie Wonder usually joined him on keys and vocals. Those parties were legendary. So many celebrities came but he wouldn’t allow any Kardashians or the press! He’d play until 4am and then kick everyone out.

Backing vocals on this song were Dez Dickerson (guitar player in the video) and Lisa Coleman (keyboards). I noticed both of your eyes light up when you saw Prince do the split so I’m recommending a live performance where he dances a lot more and does more splits. It’s a performance from the opening ceremony at the Special Olympics of “Baby I’m a Star & Push.” I think you’ll really love it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i53Gd2CFo7Rslbssi=6y5iEs3vvvDYiGDm 💜💜💜

I was a kid when he hit the radio and MTV. Had no idea what the songs were about, I just knew I was listening to something special. It was a different time, my family took my brother and I too see Prince for our first concert experience. I still remember it. From the first cord to the. Of the show, the entire music venue was up dancing and singing along. Seriously, his music always was changing, keep diving into his discography.

The background vocals were his vocals layered with Dez Dickerson. He did it on most of his earlier albums. You should also look up interviews with one of his former engineers Susan Rogers. When you hear all the things he did alone in the studio, your mind will be blown. There is also a great video of Michael Jackson laying down layered background vocals for harmonies on Thriller and Rock With You

You boys aren’t listening at all. The words are fantastic and over the top. Parked your car sideways, pocket full of Trojans, some of them used, a body like that is on the verge of being obscene, I saw all the photos of the jockeys who were there before me, etc etc. l am in my seventies and this was our music. Our music was the best.

Another song? There are over 8000 songs in the vault. He wrote every day and recorded the music because he could do it all on his own, playing all the instruments and having his own studio. Try to listen to his engineer talk about how prolific he was. She was with him at the beginning, for nearly five years, then you will understand the genius he was.
@Great-Documentaries7 ай бұрын
There are NOT 8000 songs in the vault. A complete myth. That would mean that he recorded over 600 albums worth of music. Are you insane? No human in history has come every half that way. Anyone who worked with him will tell you that you are full of it. Just do the math. He could not possibly have toured that often, slept 8 hours a day and wrote AND recorded over 600 albums. Get a grip. The goat does NOT need embellishment!
@MargaretTiver7 ай бұрын
@@Great-Documentaries I only repeated phrases from his engineers from their interviews. He was writing music in the seventies and often multiples daily and many while touring. It is obvious you know little about what such a phenomenon he was. Beethoven was failing in his hearing so he learnt to hold a rod in his teeth attached to the piano to feel the vibrations so he could continue writing music. Nothing stops the music for such geniuses, it flows from them. He told you in his lyrics, “ I am something you can never understand” ( I may have the words in wrong sequence) he knew he was different. You are underestimating him, perhaps due to your own insecurities.
@MargaretTiver6 ай бұрын
Now! You boys do realise this is him educating us again. I am old now (73) but he still makes me smile remembering how different he was to the music of the day. Two songs I think you may enjoy. “ I could never take the place of your man” and” If I was your girlfriend.” enjoy! The Lyrics are what you need to pay attention to. These lyrics in “If I was your girlfriend” are unique and women understand.
