This was my daddy's song. This was his anthem. He was our rock. And he would crank up this song and for whatever it was, it was who he was inside and how he felt. He was and old-school real man's man, a grease monkey, a sports fan, a military veteran, and an all around handy man. And he was my best friend. We played this song at his funeral accompanied by all the pictures we could find. I cannot hear this song without thinking of him and getting extremely emotional. took a while to compose myself - loved seeing BJ feel this song in his soul. I could feel my daddy here watching this with me and moving the same way. gaddam i miss him so much.

@@WaterWhirld Yes but he’s still not considered to be one of the great songwriters by most people. He doesn’t get the same respect as Springsteen or say a John Fogerty. I blame it on a certain critical and popular bias against Bob’s blue collar appeal. I think his midwestern roots which instruct his writing is not perceived to be as important as Springsteen’s portraits of the lament of people left behind by de industrialization or Fogerty’s faux down home American roots inspired sound. But Bob wrote such well crafted and honest songs. Really elegant writing similar to a young Paul Simon in an almost conversational style. And Bob unlike many songwriting peers matured so well and continued to write great songs about growing older like no one else. So for all of his accolades I think that he is under appreciated as a writer perhaps not as a performer.

LOVE Bob Seger! My favorite from him is "Against The Wind". So many amazing songs like this you all could react to. I was just a child in the 80's, but I remember some of these songs. Music had so much soul in those days. Rock music like this pretty much faded away. Country turned mostly into pop music. I don't believe we'll ever see this type of talent again.

This is one of those songs that take on different meanings the older you get. I remember working when I was 16 listening to this and it was a young man's anthem about being young with your whole life ahead of you. I'm now 58 and you start paying attention to the part that is the old man's lament over youth lost. One of the greatest songs of all time.

Bob is USA. So many hits! To me an American Musical Icon. He helped Glen Frey RIP of the Eagles get started in music. Love your channel

He also helped write a couple eagles songs.. one of which I believe is "Heartache tonight" and you can hear bobs influence in the song style too.

He and Glenn went way back as friends. On Ramblin Gamblin Man, you can pick out a young Glenn's voice in the background.

Or "20 years where'd they go, 20 years I don't know". The years just fly by. You're young; solid, strong, and looking better than ever. Then whew where'd they go? 18-38. But 30s was the best age for me. 😊

I grew up in the 60s and 70s with the best Rock , Southern Rock , Country , Blues and Soul music ever performed! Real artist performing what they had lived out . I've waited decades for artists to improve on it but only a small number of artists have come through on it. I'm glad to see younger people finding, listening and enjoying so much of what we had and what we took for granted at the time.

Great song. He wrote & recorded a lot of them. Night Moves is perfect song, nostalgic and wistful like this one. Lots of great rockers on Live Bullet (Get Out of Denver, Katmandu, Nutbush City ...). Come to Poppa is great groove song too.

What I like about you guys is that you play off each other REALLY well!! Usually though, it's BJ being "analytical" while Asia "gets it". This time I could tell BJ caught the "feels". Also, you guys just plain look good together...

The iconic Mr Seger and The Silver Bullet Band. Like a rock. Yes. Before he drove across the tracks alone he said, “I can see myself again.” Mr Seger taught me some things about myself as I was growing up. It’s great to see you youngsters enjoying the music of my youth. We all wear different earth suits in this life, but the challenge and the struggle is pretty much the same. Stand strong. Stay humble. Love our neighbors. Expect good. Do good unto others. Reach for our dreams. Yep. Like a rock… peace.

"Charging from the gate" is a reference to when Bob Seger ran track in school. Yes Bob Seger was a track star in school. After school he turned the 2nd thing he loved , music. He was influenced by many Motown artist and blues singers. Bob is my favorite because he has soul and rhythm. His collection of great songs is deep. 30+
