What she is realizing from this video, is why we were the way we were in the first place. People didn't understand us, and for some of us still don't feel understood. Music like this made us feel not so alone, and Korn was one of the first bands to really vocalize and say what we all felt. These are one of those bands that have forever affected music, and will probably be forever relevent. Regardless, thanks for appreciating the musicians in rock and metal, we are way passionate in what we do, and love doing what is challenging. Glad you liked it!

Start from the beginning: Korn - Blind Their entire first album is amazing. The song Clown has one of the greatest studio outtakes ever. Go through the whole album, but be forewarned that Daddy is a screwed up song as well as an inside as to why Jonathan Davis writes the way he does.

Daddy is def a screwed up song. People on the internet SUCK so bad they voted on Daddy to be the first KoRn song Brad & Lex (another reaction channel I watch) listen/React to. IMO I don't believe those people to be true KoRn fans or just terrible people. I think so have to have a sense of the band before you can really get that song and not be like "WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST LISTEN TO?" lol. I do agree it's a great album and Daddy is a must listen but you did the right thing and gave them a warning.

Back when Korn ruled the world!!! Good reaction, loved the breakdown and even if the meaning is not really what you first thougth, I can see how you would think that and it´s a very interesting interpretation of the lyrics. And that´s what a first reaction is all about! Because everybody who listens to songs for the first time (this one or other songs) has their own interpretation. Back in the day I thougth it was about being crazy or something, and only years later I read about the meaning. It´s all good, and yes Asia, we have all been kids and did and think in a way that we now know it´swrong :) Peace!

I know you put this video out quite some time ago but I wanted to share a couple things. KoЯn really became the voice for so many people suffering from PTSD, childhood trauma and I've never heard another artist so perfectly describe Dissociative Disorders in their music. There's a clip of Obama making a funny joke about being mistaken for Jonathan Davis (lead singer of KoЯn). It was about a mix up when JD was visiting veterans in the hospital when they came back from overseas. Their official video Falling Away From Me picks up exactly where this one left off. I think that video gives a good understanding of where they are coming from. I don't know if you can truly understand KoЯn until you've listened to the song Daddy and what happens at the end of that song. I'm grateful they kept the recording going because (along with many other people) it was the first time I stopped feeling alone in what I was going through. Daddy has a quite number of reactions and I would say if you choose to listen to it, just be prepared. But it's an important song, a necessary song. You talked about why they had a letter backwards in their name. If you look at that and many of their album covers (Untouchables, Serenity of Suffering, Issues, etc) you'll see themes of a skewed childhood. It's nothing anyone should have to live through, but for those of us that did and also suffered other events that caused PTSD, this band has been a life saver. You can go on any video of theirs and someone in the comments will say, "This band saved my life, literally!" And that's true for me too. Thanks Asia and BJ for giving this band some love and thank you JD and KoЯn.

We all judge based on looks. Those same kids looked at you and thought "why do they wear those shoes, those sweaters, etc" - Hands down easiest way to judge someone is on their outwards appearance, we all do it. They dressed that way because that is simply the way they expressed themselves with others like them. For instance I can't understand why someone would dress in an NFL sports shirt, unless they are playing sports currently in the NFL. I think what I wear is "normal" but it's only normal to people who think the same way I do. Not saying it's right - but it's our nature. Peace to all, love your clothes, love your music, love your art - difference is what makes us great, we just gotta stop hating over it!

A lot of what you‘ll find is that KoRn very much taps into the underbelly of society, and they bring attention to the subjugated and downtrodden. They can connect to fans who feel like they have issues, and to many the music is therapeutic. The growls and screaming are more than just ear candy, a lot of it is using music to release your frustration and pain. I’m not going to suggest that you don’t have that in hip hop, but when you consider even the band playing, like how do you make a guitar sound sad? How do you express anger or suffering through a guitar? These guys have had years to master their instruments, and their music is popular because it resonates within all of us. The “Nu Metal” sound blends hip hop and metal elements, and reminds us that wherever you’re from, we have something in common. Everyone struggles with mental health in some form or another, KoRn lets us know that it’s ok. I’d suggest “Make me bad” or “Falling away from me” from the older catalogue. The newer KoRn music is great too, and they come back with new energy. You’ll notice the difference if you continue down this hole (I hope you do).

I really enjoyed this reaction, so much so that I just subscribed! I was one of those kids in high school. When I tried to fit in, I was bullied, until I found my group of friends & outcasts, & embraced my weirdness, finally found where I fit in, but life has never been easy... I really appreciated what you said about being unfairly judged for being different, and that we're all just people at the end of the day, & you never know what someone is going through in their life. I discovered Korn in the 7th grade, when I was going through a really hard time in my life, & they've been my favorite band ever since, their music got me through it. Jonathan Davis (lead singer) writes all the lyrics, & he draws from his own life experiences, it's like a release for him, kind of therapeutic. I've been through a lot of the same experiences in life as Johnathan, so I can really relate to Korn's music, it's so emotionally compelling. And their music is so heavy, but groovy, but angry, but creepy...so many different sounds, they're so unique. Anyway, loved the reaction, I can't wait for more Korn reactions, that's why I subscribed, keep 'em coming! Thanks you guys!

So if he wants to be accepted he can't be himself yet still he's viewed as a freak . So now he feels like a freak on a leash. And when he says things like so many times I felt diseased. That I believe is in reference to the way people treat him when they see him. As if he had this contagious thing just because he's different.
