原來大溪有這麼多景點可以參觀,每次都只知道去老街吃吃喝喝。感恩!下次安排去其它地方看看。

因為你是台灣人呀!台灣本來都是對台灣人比較陌生,對日本比較嚮往。 他介紹的我都去過都知道,因為我跟他都不是台灣人。

Savoury rice balls look interesting. The ones we get in SG are usually sweet. I like Daxi because I like quaint old buildings with ornate facades. Thank you for bring me here, Richard.

My understanding is: Ta-kho-ham is Taiwanese name for “大溪“。 And the meaning of this phrase is not “ larger river” but “ large neck”. It was because that most of the aboriginal people lived there suffer the sickness of iodine lacking symptoms. As they lived a bit too far from the seaside.

Most of Taiwan‘s place names originated from aboriginal languages. Even the name “Taiwan” is one of them… When you see the names in Chinese, you have to pronounce them in Taiwanese or Japanese to get the origin sound of the names in aboriginal languages. For example, 艋舺in Taiwanese and 萬華 in Japanese sound similar to Monga or Monka. 打狗Ta-Kao in Taiwanese and 高雄Taka-O in Japanese… sound almost the same… Takao. After 1945, all names are pronounced in Mandarin. This changed the naming logic of those Chinese names.

Wonder if there was any MSG added to the soup? Lots people are allergic to MSG. Were you with someone from your family? Because I saw an arm reaching out and tried to get food in your direction, or just a stranger sharing the same table with you?
