Devon, Torquay. Last Sunday one hovered around my bacon sandwitch. I slapped it into the decking and it flew off. I thought it was a mini drone at first. Safe to say the little s**t didn't get my bacon. They're HUGE!. They need to P off back to Asia the wasps are bad enough when I'm trying to have a cider!, Never mind that big thing breathing now my neck at every turn!. Keep the good work up guys!.

I'd say that any Asian hornets will have had a very tough winter. Not so much cold as wet.

They change skin color during cold seasona and rainy season to protect their body.

i just saw one. Aberdeen Scotland. made a huge buzzing sound like a drone. 5x bigger than a yellow jacket. i am sure it was.

Actually only about double the size of a standard Wasp the European Hornet is larger and the Japanese Giant Hornet even bigger still which can grow upto around 6cm or over 2 inches long.

@@adamknight7041 yes, i think it was a giant horntailed saw fly. they are nearly exact same colour accept physically, much different. Saw Fly is huge, forked tail.

well.i don't know what it was that i saw, i was too surprised to take it in. very brightly coloured, predominantly orange. massive, as big as my little finger up to the second joint. buzz sounded like a cross between a wasp and a merlin engine.

I'd say there are much more pressing and critical issues for the AT to be highlighting than the Asian Hormet !! Our rivers are literally full of sewage ...
@DanBeech-ht7sw5 ай бұрын
Cleaning rivers is an engineering problem. If this hornet gets established that's an ecological nightmare

Is it true they don’t bother humans ? 🙏

Try and avoid them, calmly. They will go for you if they feel provoked and during breeding season in japan (september/october), when i went to tokyo last year, it made parts of some mountain trails no go zones, saw a few at the top of mt takao, they sound like mini drones, wasn't the most pleasant experience tbh seeing them zoom about above our heads 😅
