Not because I am ethnic Chinese or what, I really think China and Singapore has one of the most efficient govt in the whole world. Notice that when it decides to implement a policy or agreement , it has already done its studies and analyses before carrying it out. And stick with it. And trust is the most important factor especially in signing a bilateral agreement, it has to honour it, not to dishour the agreement when a new party take over the leadership of a country. Many countries, especially the West, often do this and this is so counter productive because it affect the trust and disrupt economic progress.

Aside from the political niceties, there is this narrative that India has this “ego” & “loss of face” issue with China and always don’t want to be seen as losing to China. On top of that, India’s feudal and federal system makes each state almost autonomous and this creates a destructive “Democracy” for India. China knows and will or have the solution to rectify China’s aging issue and low cost/high cost manufacturing issues. Problem is, India wants to have the whole cake and eat it. OBOR passes through Pakistan Occupied Kashmir which India claims as its own. RCEP doesn’t include service sectors which India is strong at, so India doesn’t see any merit in joining RCEP.

Not joining RECP was another blunder, as Indian manufacturers would have got Tax free access to a much bigger market than India. Western countries now prefer to set up their manufacturing units in RECP countries rather than India. Even Indian companies have started setting up manufacturing units in RECP countries to take advantage of the tax-free regime there. So FDI flows in India have reduced, Jobs Lost, Trade Deficit increased, and the Value of INR decreased.

Had India accepted OBOR, it’d be recognising Pakistan’s legitimacy over Kashmir. The Pakis don’t really care about Kashmir, they just want to keep the conflict alive to ensure military rule in Pakistan. And, China is an accomplice to that. Regarding RCEP, the biggest beneficiary would be China. Their products would flood Indian markets. We still purchase Indian made clothes and a lot of Indian made items. Joining RCEP means Indian manufacturers would take a hit. RCEP doesn’t talk about services such as IT, Nursing and Healthcare or Teaching which India is good at, RCEP doesn’t allow Indians to go to other countries for work. RCEP would’ve enabled China to do economic coercion on India like how they did with Australia, Korea and Taiwan.

China is desperate for 1-2% from infrastructure for the future through the BRI. China prospers, the host goes into debt. India today is not China of 2009, in 2009, China GDP was USD 5 trillions and per capita at USD 3.8k but today india, gdp only USD 3.7 trillions and per capita at USD 2.6k. I think it’s hard for india to be even on par with China. There are many reasons, from attitudes, skills, size of country, resources to climate change not at india side. Demographic not the only factor to success, in fact it will be burden to india if they failed to manage it properly, quickly enough to provide employment, skills and opportunities. india still a very close economy, FDI into China in 2009 was USD 997b but in flow into India in 2022 still only less than 10% of China level in 2009. Instead of forging good economic relations with their biggest suppliers of raw materials and equipment, india going to opposite, this relation going to be bad to the level China retaliate, india going to be in deep trouble, even with US help won’t lift india economy, even the current influx of US companies, many US companies failed and exited india market in past decades, india trade with South East Asia mostly in service is still small compare to trillion dollar business between China and ASEAN in 2009 at USD235b compare to India today USD110b.

India has a major obstacle to overcome before it can see the kind of development it wants for itself. And that is its very bloated egotism. The other issue is that India wants to eat its cakes and keep them as well. While it wants to attract forrign investments where India can be competitive, it at the same time wants to hold on to regulations that protect its uncompetitive industries. And also its involvement in the combative anti China AKUS Alliance while at the same time having one foot in the Shanghai Cooperative Organisation. That would greatly dilute the level of trust that any of its partners will place on it.

First time I have heard Kishore speaking about India with any degree of seriousness so is he working out a new strategy for China. (CIA- China, India ASEAN as he has coined). He is a know member of the China-B-team so he needs to heard seriously to understand the Chinese thought. Is it an admission that the India tilt towards USA is pinching China and China realises it needs to wean away India away from USA if it has to stand any chance. Remember China has very few strong friends today (of course it has a war battered Russia, a begging bowl Pakistan and North Korea) against a USA Plus Plus Plus Plus. Alliance. Improving China-India relations is more probable but possible. China has to first give a lot especially on the border issue. It needs to settle it permanently for any lasting solution and mostly not on its terms. That is a big problem with the sort of nationalistic rhetoric it has fed its population. It has to first give up its stand that it is the ‘Undisputed Hegemony in Asia which China, Japan and maybe South Korea will never accept. None better than Kishore to drill in some ‘dharma’ into the Chinese mind. After all don’t Hindus and Buddhist Co-exist with the utmost harmony in India and ASEAN. Why not on a China join in that Buddhist harmony based on dharma. We have done so in centuries. Let China teach its people more a lost their Buddhist heritage. It will create a huge people-to-people contact. Takes us to a larger question. Why can’t communism and Buddhism peacefully co-exist in China. I am pessimistic as far as Indian and Chinese relations are concerned. India's sentiment against China is somewhat irrational. With the Americans stirring irritants and adding fuel to the Indian fire, India has no incentive to improve its relations with China.

I really don't understand whether the comments under this video are from genuine people or from wumao. Two points in particular, firstly, this disdain for democracy from people claiming to be supposedly living in 'Singapore', doesn't makes sense considering what I know about Singaporean politics and people. Secondly, this anti-West vitroil, US and EU have their issues, but after experiencing the wolf warrior diplomacy for past 3-4 years, I doubt any country will be receptive to the slogan "Asia for Asians", even if these commentators are genuine and belong to ASEAN countries, the policies of their own government are not in consonant with them. Would be great if someone can calrify these points.

Some good points made but china has picked it's side and no amount of sweet words from china funded think tanks can make us ignore all the transgressions at the border, your absolute support and shielding of pakistan, it's terrorists, and your role in keeping that country propped up instead of letting it disintegrate in order to keep us in a 2 front war situation. Additionally your boycott of the G20, your ignoring of india's territory for your belt and road initiate and shielding of Pakistani terrorists at the UN make it crystal clear you aren't trustworthy.

India -China Border disputes ,incursions etc . The British left unmarked borders ,unmarked land ,no man,s land etc for India n China to fight it out. What about international arbritration each side bring whatever documnents ,maps agreements etc ,they have n negotiate etc Proposals to settle border issues. Since all border commander ,diplomatic ,Sco,bilateral talks failed ,what next? Monitoring of borders a- UN observers ,foreign military observers to be stationed at strategic locations along the Chinese / Indian borders ti monitor the border ,yse drones ,satellites etc

The ports of Chabahar & Gwadar are going to be a source of contention & high risk of security conflict in the near future. Think about it, China needs access to the Indian Ocean for imports/exports to Gulf/ME, something India could block during a conflict. Chabahar is the counter to China's encroachment on territory India deems of strategic importance. You could see how this is going to play out if India chooses to side with the U.S to contain China.

As long as India and China continue to act like a couple of children fighting over a bucket in the sandpit, the U.S will continue to see this as their Achilles heel, with which they can provoke a crisis between these two powerful countries, and help blunt the economic and social destruction that is currently taking place in the U.S. If China and India can start to act like grown-ups and agree to disagree, while at the same time keep moving along a road of mutual cooperation that will benefit not only themselves but the whole world, and unlike the U.S, do it peacefully.

China has settled all its border issues with 14 of its border nations except for China and Bhutan. But with an informal agreement with bhutan and soon to have a settlement with them, India remains the difficult one for a settlement talk. China is the grown-up and India is the recalcitrant child between the two.
