As a parent with an outgoing biracial daughter (Thai/white) in 8th grade starting to think about what kind of college experience she wants, this video is **SO HELPFUL** and insightful. Thank you for making this.

I’m glad your Greek experience worked out for you for the best. I appreciate your video and your disclaimer regarding PHC (NPC ) and the other councils and your knowledge regarding them. I hope you stay involved with your organization on a national and local level. As you stated of course, it’s a lifetime organization and once you join it’s for the rest of your life. 👍🏾

20:35 I love how I watched 20min and then got my question answered in literally 4 seconds haha I always thought that if someone who wasn't asian wanted to join that members might be somewhat weirded-out or think you're obsessed with their culture or something along those lines You should make a whole video explaining more about that

I’m curious about where would SE Asian interests would fit in these sorority. There’s separate South Asian and (East?) Asian sororities. Honestly that’s something I noticed as well with AAA being majority East Asian. Most of my college friends were varying types of Asian (Chinese, Indian, Laos, Taiwan, Bangladesh) so it felt like there was never a social group that equally welcomed us all or celebrated our diverse Asian heritage.

I’m so glad I found this video! aKDphi is the sorority I’m drawn to the most here and I’m so excited for it. I want to ask how your parents reacted to you becoming a sxster. Being Asian, my parents are so involved with my life and I know they mean well, but they have such outdated views on what Greek life is like and they’re really trying to discourage me from rushing. Do you have any advice or tips?
@kellyktang4 жыл бұрын
omg yes my parents were not very happy about it aha, but it was only because they heard negative rumors about greek life. it took some time, but i explained to them that greek life /= partying and instead showed them how it led to really great leadership opportunities for me, the projects i was working on for my positions as i was publicity chair at the time, introduced them to some of my new best friends & sisters and they're now super supportive of it :)

it definitely just depends on how the sorority likes to do it! I'd say give it a week or two before you get a response

What does mean when you said "we just weren't ready for you yet"
@kellyktang4 жыл бұрын
it doesn’t mean any one thing - each case is different bc there are lots of possible reasons someone could not receive a bid but it shouldn’t deter you from trying again next semester!

@@kellyktang so i rushed last spring and i didn't get a bid sadly. I want to rush again but I'm super nervous that i may get rejected again. What can i do to improve my chances?? My school rush last for a week(uva)

what are your thoughts on rushing last semester in college? would it be too late?

probably :( you can’t be active until you finish the intake process your first semester so you’ll never get to experience activehood!
