I find holding a weight in front of you helps a lot; not only does it help you not fall back but also helps you get deeper into the position because more weight.

I am a former basketball player, swimmer and cyclist (44 yo. now). Have strong out of shape legs and want to get into senior + ball again. So I will use your exercises as basic conditioning. They are excellent!

Great video! The timing is spot on. These exercises are awesome. Question for you... have you ever tried Next Level Diet? I got a muscle-building meal plan from them that's worked wonders for me.

Nope. I just eat rice, meat, and vegetables. And occasional burritos and burgers.

at work. As a chef. alot of cooks I see that are even fatter than me can do this. This blew my mind. I was like-WTF? Then I found your video and I went from Falling over just like you demonstrated to actually doing some Asian squats. Still not ALL THE WAY THERE but I can squat and do the 12 reps and get through the routines. Looking forward to being a FULL ASIAN. lol

Hi Matt I love your videos and your wry sense of humour and your nice looks. Been trying the squats, but need to strengthen my lower back and my side hips. I have this constant pain in both areas regardless of how much strengthening and stretching l do. You video on constant pain lve watched 100 times. Everyime l wake up its the same. I'm at a loss now.

Love you videos and insights. Also noticed your kettlebells! Any ideas on kettlebell (swing) exercises to strengthen the hip flexors?
@Uprighthealth2 жыл бұрын
Kettlebell swings don't really strengthen hip flexors. You can just hook your foot under the kettlebell handle and lift OR do something like this: kzbin.info9ZGQyJW8Tlo

I have no problem getting into a deep squat from standing, even moving slowly, but I have to keep my feet and knees apart and angled out and either strectch my hands way out in front or hold a weight so I don't fall backwards. I basically cannot just stand up from a deep squat (it makes my knees hurt) - I have to straighten my legs while keeping my upper body down and when my legs are straight I can lift my upper body. Is this just a lack of strength? or flexibility? or what?

Same here.

Dude, you don't know how I need more asian squats in my life. I even started learning japanese, so that I can be more asian, so that I'll master the squat faster. Also I need it at work, where I need to get down a lot but I'm not allowed to touch the floor at all because of a need for a sterile environment.

I see people squatting while on their tues with heels lifted. I understand that this is not an Asian square- but is there any be fit to this position? While the Asian squat is easy for me, I don’t have the balance to do the toes squat. Is that something worthwhile to train?

I practise MA so I got no problems to get in asian squat, but even my parents can get there easily and they dont traing much, walking and sometimes gym. Are there really a lot people who cant get into that position? Thats very stiff life, asian swuat should be easy for everyone (well not massively overweight maybe).
