There's a big problem with all these interviews. Everyone doesn't want to be the one weirdo who sticks out, so once one of the group rates them low or high, then the rest of the group is very likely to just follow. If you actually want to hear what people think, then start doing individual interviews. Until you start doing that then all these interviews show is how easy the group influences thinking and absolutely nothing else.

I do not disagree with your view. I think it's part of it. But I have to say that I am more astonished by what it says about women, because these responses are coming from different parts of the world. Women clearly have a difficult time with the truth. There is no way all these women actually believe that this obese woman is a 10, yet they all, without hesitation, say so. The question is why? What is at the root of their fear to just tell the truth?

@@Rubeauti Hiya Rubeauti. Thanks for replying. To be honest I think it's a bit of both and it depends on her status in the friend group with her. If she gives a poor rating say 1/10 to a lady that is clearly above average say 7/10 say this is going to give her instant criticism from her friend group with her and potentially lose respect and standing. If later some other friends watch the video she will then get criticism again - maybe more people but it won't be instant 'Don't you stick up for women?' etc. This is how it works in the West anyway - women don't like to criticise other women (at least not to their face 😉)

Also is there a cultural difference? For instance in Thailand an overweight or o ese man up to a point is more desirable because culturally a skinny guy has no money whereas a fat man is see as rich and wise... This of course is changing there but it's still a thing.

Filipino women are generally very polite and conservative. I think they were giving the heavy girl extra points for being daring enough to show lots of skin. Thank you for the video interviews. You have shown us the difference between younger and older Filipino women's views of men. After watching the last few videos, just as you said.. the younger city life females are more or just as critical as "westernized American females". So basically if a foreigner comes to PH looking for a younger city-life females will be facing the same "ostrization" as they would be from a US female. There is definitely a difference of views of the type of men they like and I hate to point this out that it was "consistent" for every interview that "Black Americans" are low on their scales as a potential partner.

This blows my mind. They rate the first picture (who looks Filipino) at a lower grade but give the other Asian picture (looks Korean) a higher grade. That would totally be reversed here in the States. Judging based on looks is fine if you never intend on meeting them. However a persons overall beauty changes based on what's in their hearts and what comes from their mouth. Someone who is a 10 can quickly become a 2 if their heart is poo. A 3 can quickly become a 9 if their words are fine. People no longer think of the 1-10 scale as: 10 is the most incredibly beautiful/handsome person that you can possibly imagine, and a 1 is the most horrendously ugly person that you can imagine, with 5 being an average looking person. Today's 1-10 scale is more like this: What do I think I should publicly say about this person without hurting anyone's feelings? It's silly to keep hearing "Confidence" as the reason why they gave the obese woman a 10. It looked like, in every photo, the guys had a lot of confidence as well. Today's younger women have existed with social media most of their lives. Every time they post a picture, they get 100 likes, hearts, and positive comments from all their girlfriends, and "you're hot" comments from the guys below their level. This is why so many girls today think of themselves at 10's when they're really average at best. It's nice to see some of these ladies rating themselves honestly.

As far as people in general not being comfortable to be honest in a group public poll, I feel that is not just in the west, but most places that can be reached by social and mainstream media... If you asked some of these questions in a private setting, individually, you would probably get different answers... Is it hypocrisy or fear of having a damaged public reputation? Either way, what is said and done behind closed doors is usually vastly different from what is said and done in public. It's an interesting social experiment... 🙂

I was indeed surprised. Filipinos spend the most time online of any country and can see social media has completely warped judgement. That's a shame. Also interesting is the differences in groups vs single interviewee. Women are highly influenced by the opinion of other women. So in a group the women were all quick to judge as soon as one shouted out an answer. Single interviewees study the picture more for the most part.

Hey Rubeauti. There are many people out there who don’t care to be judged by others. You were right that when in a group, the others will use the same rating with each other. But it was surprising how they rate themselves. Why have a rating for any one ? All people are a 10. No matter if they are handsome , in great shape or fat. They don't know any of them. So looks IS the only category they can rate them on. People who don't take care of themselves don't deserve "participation awards" at life so they don't get offended. I'm overweight and I hate it. I know I'm unattractive, I know I'm physically limited in what I can do, and people who look like blubbered-up walruses DIE SOONER. They need the TRUTH - a reality check, not a pat on the head and told "big is beautiful" because it isn't - it's ugly, unhealthy, more expensive to live, you get less done, you can't play with your kids like they deserve... It's not degrading it's just reality.

Discerning men rate women also! But they are few and far between. Most guys like the pretty ones who are easy to get. The GEMS are hard to get! I love a challenge!

A few times, when interviewing a group of three or more, there seemed to be a de facto leader whose dominance/opinion influenced how the other girls vote. For the most part, Filipino women seem to place a high premium on social compliance/grace, even if it means concealing what their actual thoughts are. Clearly, as you say, this was the case with the "plus size" model, where almost everyone expressed a negative opinion simply by overstating a positive one. In Filipino culture, this is likely automatically understood to mean what it actually means. Same for the guy with the pecs. A lot of girls quickly gave him a surprisingly low score which means, in actuality, that they found him super hot. If they admit that, they place themselves at risk of seeming slutty, which I'm sure is a big no-no. Too I note the pace at which they did so (the instantaneity), which is a match for how most of the girls responded to the heavy woman. Apparently, an instant response is understood to mean, "Y'all know I'm lying, and y'all know why." In this respect, or in this way, your round of interviews was useful. Be interesting to hear how province girls would vote though, I mean, compared to urbanites ...there in Luzon, that is. I don't think I've seen you out on any of the other islands. But I do wonder if province girls are just as adept at this game of concealment. And yes, if you make a formal request (and stipulate means/terms), I'm sure plenty of men would be glad to provide a photo and subject themselves to being rated. (Frankly, I'd be surprised if you don't already have a stack of them.) For your subscribers, those responses would probably carry more value than how models are taken to. I think you're onto something there. Smart.

Interesting Rubeauti that many of your viewers think the interviewees were lying, when the interviewees seem to be indicating that they need to feel something more from the photos than physical looks, and even body shape. One young woman you interviewed alone and not in a group, said it straight - that she liked the confidence the obese girl represented. The group members seem to indicate the same, though, as you said, they might have been being polite. I don't think they were lying at all, but expressed a real impression with the trait of confidence, which some said they themselves do not possess. These results were a far cry from the western women, who just seemed to hate all men, and always gave the obese girl a 10. Well done!

For all the girls that said the lady in the picture was a 10 and then said they were anything less than a 10 I would have asked them "so you're saying you'd rather look like her instead of how you look today so people will think you're a 10 instead of a 6" or whatever they rated themselves as.

Although I wouldn't rate the overweight lady very highly, I understand the Pinoys/ Pinas point that confidence can be attractive, even physically. A fact that a lot of these comments in here fail to grasp.

I'm sure you right about the politeness in the answers however I also notice that most people who rated the woman highly also mentioned she was a confident person. I'm assuming that's because she is wearing a bikini in the picture. In the west it is very normal for women to wear bikinis at the beach whatever their body shape and it doesn't really say anything about their confidence levels as it's just the social normal here. I wonder if you would get any different response if the models were all more conservatively dressed. Certainly the majority of the people you asked were more attractive to me than the woman in the picture.

I think you'd get a different answer if you went out side the city, F'ism can only exist where life is easy. Also rephrase the question to "rate them on physical appearance only and nothing else?"... "Rate them on Appearance?" leave to many variables open so they can say confident or not my type, then you can push back if they do for not following simple directions. You can also cut or blur out the fat chicks face to see if you get a different answer.

Yeah I was continually watching your video and when you show the full figure woman in the bikini and they think that that's 10 my jaw dropped. I give it the fact that she had the confidence to take that photo but that's obese

I have been divorced for 25 years here in the united states. I have never been tall dark or handsome. I have a good job and am faithful. Have had such a difficult time finding a gf here. In fact it is almost impossible! So mush is dependent on looks and $. I am 64 now and it seems hopeless here.

A fun video, Rubeauty, but this experiment might yield more accurate results in terms of their real opinions if you ask the questions in a more anonymous manner, for example 1:1, and in writing, without showing the interviewee's faces. Also, include multiple women's photos, of varying degrees of physical attractiveness. Perhaps ask the interviewees to rank them in order of physical attractiveness. THEN, interview them on camera and ask why they rated each photo the way they did. Interviewing people in groups skews their answers, as they feel peer pressure. Also, asking them to rate others while on-camera makes them feel awkward, and maybe unwilling to be truthful. Also, I saw alot of them explaining why they gave the obese woman a "10" was because she was "confident"; but the exercise was to rate physical appearance only. Not their perception of the model's attitude or emotional state.
