Great analysis. But disagree with Kevin's view on certain fundamental issues though. I guess being a diplomat, he cannot be too frank in his opinion? On the issue of China's growing military power, to me this is in response to a clear and present danger. US existential threat. Look at what happened to Libya, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq and very soon Iran. As for Xi JinPing policy of self reliance in technology, again the reasons are obvious.

Don't be mistaken about Iran at all. It won't be an easy walk and I think that the military officials in the Pentagon have received the clear message by Iranian missile strike to the US bases in Iraq after the coward assassination of Ghasem Soleimani. Iran is in possession of various response routes in the case of an attack on its interests. And don't forget that, due to the geostrategic position of Iran, the involvement of many other countries could lead easily to WW III while an attack on China could be limited to China only or maybe the slight involvement of India.

Taiwan issue is not that complicated, under the constitution of the Republic of China (ROC) which now administrates Taiwan, the island is a region of Fujian province which belongs to China likewise under the constitution of the People's Republic of China (PROC) which now administrates the mainland inclusive HK & Macau. China is now either being represented by PROC or ROC. About 15 countries recognised ROC the rest recognised PROC which is also a member of UN & other global organizations.

"...these two most powerful countries in the world." Comment:. China is not one of the two most powerful countries ..either economicly or militarily. China may have a big GDP, but they have a lot of mouths to feed. The don't have a large disposable income that can be invested in just anything. Militarily, Japan is stronger than China. This is said four min into the program. Is there any point watching more?
