Man i cant wait for that review. Not enough people review this line of dell computers. I have an older percission and love it. But i need somethimg that will handle 8k video a little better.

Wow, 8K video! My old Precision is going strong but the new 7730 is a monster, an incredible machine. Have no idea how it will handle 8K video though. Will shoot the review in 4K to test that. Will get to it soon, once I have had time to use the laptop a little more in real world scenarios. Thanks.

Will you be doing a full review at some point ? I think this stunning laptop deserves it and there’s no extensive review of it.

Yes, I will be doing a full review of the positives and negatives. I have just been very busy with travel commitments lately but will get to that soon.

I went for the 7530 with P2000. Hopefully will arrive next week but this Syncreon tracking is very vague. Min RAM and Hard Drive options that I will upgrade as per Mr. Asia Travel Tips help! Got a question if anyone can help. I like to calibrate my screens with a Spyer4Pro. It works by loading a LUT in the graphics card driver. This will work fine for the inbuilt screen. Does anyone know if you calibrate external monitors connected over say the Thunderbolt ports? I ask because I have a Pluggable USB3 to Display port adapter and although this gives you an external screen you can't calibrate it as there is no link to a graphics card that you can load a LUT into.

Thanks for the quick review. I was desperately looking for Precision 7730 model quick review on KZbin but I couldn't find except one that was in Vietnamese language. But from that visual review I found this model excellent. After doing a lot of research of Dell laptops (Lenovo P71 ThinkPad too), I liked this model......I like 17 inch screen with 4K display. I have finalised 16G RAM, 512GB PCIe SSD Hard Disk and Core i7-8750H processor. It would be great if you share your thought process behind selecting this model. I hope you are happy with it 😀

Thanks for your kind words. My first Dell Precision was a M6600 and I knew then that these laptops were the best available. I like how they can be fully configured when you purchase them and are easy to modify once you have it. The screen in the video is actually a FHD and not the 4K option. I am very happy with it so far. I should be uploading another video about the Dell Precision 7730 tomorrow. Thanks again and I hope you enjoy your Dell Precision. :-)

Thanks for reply. I am yet to place the order for the Dell Precision 7730. I like bigger screen with max resolution like 4k to have immersive experience either while working on the video/photo processing or doing my regular work. I am eagerly waiting for your 7730 video tomorrow 😀👍🏻

The new video removing the battery and back panel of the Dell 7730 to show the RAM and SSD has been uploaded and can be seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoO6lmSCdqqsf5o Will be doing two more videos - one showing how to install the last two RAM (requires removing the keyboard) and then a full review once I have used the computer for a little longer. Thanks.

Have you tested the CPU? How is the cooling system? Does it throttle the CPU?
@travelnewsasia6 жыл бұрын
I have not run any tests, only real-world usage and when rendering HD video the cooling system seems to work well and the fans dispel a lot of hot air out of the back. When running basic tasks like high res picture editing with multiple browsing the laptop runs very quietly and the fans only kick in when something heavier starts.

Hi there Which one you recommend for architecture, the Dell Precision 7730 Mobile Workstaion or Dell Precision 7530 Mobile Workstaion
@travelnewsasia4 жыл бұрын
This will really depend on how much screen real estate you need. I personally prefer 17-inch screen.

Great video, thanks for posting! I was wondering, could you possibly tell me the height of the front edge of the laptop when it is open, so just the height of the front edge of the keyboard portion? Thanks for reading!
@travelnewsasia6 жыл бұрын
When it is sat on the table it is roughly 1.7 cm from the table to the top of the front. The metal frame that runs around the front is actually quite thin at about 0.8 cm but there is a slight plastic ridge beneath that. Hope this helps.

Yes, that's exactly what I needed, and that number should be perfect, thank you very much for your help!

Which one do you prefer 7730 or 7520?
@travelnewsasia4 жыл бұрын
I am a very big fan of the Precision line of laptops, and prefer mine to be a 17" screen - so to answer your question the 7730. I also have a smaller 13" laptop which I can chuck around a bit more and take places I may not carry the larger 7730. I love the look of the new XPS series that is about to come out with almost zero bezels. Laptops are so powerful these days. Combine that with high speed fibre internet, cloud computing and all the seamless syncing you can now do, and I am not sure what I will get in a few years when it is time to replace the 7730.

Hi! Thanks for the quick look of this machine. Do you use it with Lightroom or Capture One for image editing? I'm on a Mac Pro (desktop "trashcan") + WIn10 desktop (for 3d work) and I'm thinking of replacing my 15-inch MBP (2013) for maybe a powerful Dell laptop. Was also looking at the top spec XPS 15, but this one seems more powerful.. would love to hear how it handles the image editing tasks and if sliders and stuff work without lag in Lightroom/Capture One.. (read somewhere that people complained about this on the XPS 15). Thanks!
@travelnewsasia5 жыл бұрын
I use Lighroom and a few other programmes, but not Capture One. The 7730 has handled everything I have thrown at it, including a 14-minute 4096x2160 4K video). Its fans are silent most of the time, but of course they do start up when you are really pushing it. The XPS is a great machine but not as configurable as the Precision line. Sorry I could not help more.
@Tennet3D5 жыл бұрын
@@travelnewsasia Thanks! If it handles Lightroom well, I guess Capture One won't be a problem. Looking at this and the HP ZBook G5.. which also seems like a great workstation.
@krane155 жыл бұрын
@@Tennet3D Adobe Suite is optimized to work with the Dell Precision, but Lightroom isn't on the list. Still, if it can handle 4K video everything else is elementary.

Do you have any issues with fan noise? I recently bought the 3530 with 16 gb Ram,Quadro P600, and i7 8750H which is more than enough for me. but I have a problem with the fan noise, whenever my laptop is plugged in regardless of power plan, the fans start to work and lets say I am in google maps the fans goes crazy noise. Its the first time I use a proper windows machine, I came from a 5 YO MacBook pro without any issues today except for some software requirements. So is it common for a "powerful computer" to be noisy even under regular load or I am missing something here or this is defect on my laptop?
@Ferrclaw6 жыл бұрын
Precision 35x0 series is built on Latitude 55x0, including the cooling system. It consists of double heatpipe and a single fan: i2.wp.com/laptopmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/IMG_20170419_145221.jpg. It's not hard to guess, that this is not enough for Coffee Lake. As far as I know, 7530 also gets quite hot: www.notebookcheck.net/Dell-Precision-7530-i9-8950HK-Quadro-P3200-Workstation-Review.346631.0.html#toc-emissions. I am wondering how 7730 behaves in terms of temperatures and noise, as there are still no reliable tests on the web. 7720 was a brilliant one in this area: www.notebookcheck.net/Dell-Precision-7720-Xeon-P5000-4K-Workstation-Review.279706.0.html#toc-emissions (tested model has a top Xeon and P5000!).

No. I am very surprised just how quiet this machine is, even when I am pushing it. The 3530 and your GPU will be very different from the 7730 though. I hardly ever use the 7730 on battery but my fans only come on in extreme cases and are not that noisy anyway.
@umuofiakwenu38185 жыл бұрын
3530 is in a much smaller chassis, and thus suffers from higher heat.

@travelnewsasia4 жыл бұрын
When you say go in flush, do you mean you can still see a bit of the metal at the top (if looking down at the laptop)? Mine does that too, but the power plug works. It is because that back where the plug goes is not flat, but angled.

Seems that Dell Precision 7730 doesn't have a built in microphone, nor webcam? For such amount of money seems strange. Yet again, at this level one would be expected to use PRO-level equipment I guess.
@travelnewsasia5 жыл бұрын
Mine certainly has a built in webcam and microphone. As these are predominantly business laptops, it would not surprise me that Dell makes them without a mic and camera. Depends on the configuration you choose.
@krane155 жыл бұрын
Webcams on laptop are primitive still using crappy 720p when cell phones offer 4K. They're really a joke that most people put tape over to prevent prying eyes from accessing them. A few companies now come with built-in webcam covers.
@travelnewsasia5 жыл бұрын
I am disappointed that a laptop of this quality does not come with a sliding built in cover for the webcam, but I bought a good quality one for £5.xx off Amazon and it works as advertised. The webcam is OK for what I need it for.

@SaarN13376 жыл бұрын
Marc G It is, actually. But you’re going to pay a premium on a Quadro 5200, it costs (way) more than a 1080. But you can game on it, sure.

You can game on a Quadro but its a colossal waste of money primarily for that. Unless you're just interested in the recreation time after the real work is done.
