I have 800km in glideride 3. The plates first purpose is to provide the rocker geometry. The snap of toe-off is not necessarily its main purpose. Your easy pace is so fast for many its a tempo pace, which might make it feel like a snappy shoe. The faster I run in my glideride 3, the more I dont like it. For me its very slow recovery day shoe, where the agressive rocker makes my legs do less work and makes the transition easier. Which is what I want in a recovery shoe. Id love to try glideride max to see if they changed something.

@naterobertson2 ай бұрын
I have both. Loved the 25, got the SB2 and prefer them only for faster longer runs. Training for my first half-marathon. They force me to run faster than my target pace. I actually got the NB4 after as a daily trainer, it’s about 70% of the bounce and responsiveness. I was thinking of getting the Max to replace my 25s as they are almost done.

I think some doctors of running podcast talk about rotation of shoes preventing injuries . if there is evidence rotation of maybe 3 shoes does prevent injuries I am all for it . much more than that and probably just being a shoe collector . 3 shoes in rotation lasts at least 6 months for me at 30-40 miles per week.
@TeddyNinja2 ай бұрын
Loved your comments on approaching athletic shoe collecting as looking for different experiences rather than fitting training niches. Hope you find a Nimbus 26 to try out, my experience is that it's extremely similar to the 25 but with a slightly more responsive midsole.
@kuriosites2 ай бұрын
Glideride has always had a plate; I think the intention is to support the rocker geometry. I think vacation miles feel longer because you don't have the built-in markers in your head to tell you where you are and expectations of terrain. Nice woodsy area though.
@troutjunkie73302 ай бұрын
No plate in it. They call it a plate, but it's EVA foam plate. Basically thin layer of rubber foam that is slightly firmer than the other foam. EVA is yoga and gym mats

I think you might really like the Nimbus 26! The 25 definitely is pretty "mushy", but the 26 is so comfortable without your feet feeling like they are sinking in. I am super interested in trying the GlideRide Max - I do a lot of walking and feel like this might be a good option to have in rotation. Thanks for the review!

oh i've waited too long for this. Glideride 3 was great and made anything slower than tempo almost effortless, worked as a great training partner to the Metaspeed. I tried novablast but the foam felt too soft in the forefoot but the glideride geometry pulls my feet through from the heel to the toe. I find the geometry and ride similar to the Mach X which has been tying me over the lack of a glideride 4 however the foam isn't the same. Glideride 3's foam had slightly less energy return and more cushioning compared to the Mach X which is a bit more speed oritentated and less for easy runs.

This is a lot softer than the Hyperion max 2. If you want a different feel then yes. But if you want something similar I'd take a look at the hoka mach x2 - it's been my favorite recently of the plated trainers. maybe a dumb q but glideride (max) vs novablast 4?
@supwell2 ай бұрын
Glideride max is a lot softer and has more of a rocker. The novablast 4 is more supportive, stable and protective. If you want soft I'd go glideride max and if you want supportive I'd go novablast. Also there are no dumb questions on this channel!

Asics makes a mistake by leaving the sole at the same level as the midsole. This causes the midsole to wear out faster than the sole. The rubber thickness of the sole needs to be increased by about 2 millimeters.

The plate is not a plate. ASICS is tricking everyone by calling it EVA plate, which is just a slightly firmer foam layer. EVA is gym and yoga mat.
@supwell2 ай бұрын
It's a plastic plate like in the Mach X and Endorphin Speed. You can turn polymers like EVA and PEBA into plates or foams (it's all about the density of the end product, which is why some EVA foams are super soft and some are super firm) - they're just specifying what type of polymer makes the plate. Also I can feel the stiffness in the rear 3/4 when I flex the shoe
@troutjunkie73302 ай бұрын
@@supwell But in this shoe is not solid EVA. It's 62 durometer foam vs 30-40 for the rest of the midsole. It's just a layer of firmer foam. Grab V3 where you can see the so called PLATE through the opening on the bottom and poke it with anything. You will see it's rubber foam
@troutjunkie73302 ай бұрын
@@supwell 44:45 See that 110 degree bend. Try that with Mach X or Speed. It's marketing BS done by ASICS calling it a plate. It's a 0.090 thick layer of EVA black foam.

@@troutjunkie7330 Yeah there's no plate/EVA film in the part of the shoe that I bent. It's a 3/4 length plate/EVA film that goes from the back to the middle to the ball of the foot before the toes
