I have both shoes and they feel so different. In the sky you need to be precise with your running form. But it’s absolutely amazing than, because you know you nailed it. You get more out of the shoe the more you put in. The 5MM drop makes you run natural. I would pick it for track miles and long distance running. If you’re a good runner you can use it for marathon. In the Nike is softer and more foregiving. 8mm drop makes you lean more. The shoe does a lot of work and you get less feedback. This shoe shines at 5k to halfmarathon in my opinion. For marathon alphafly is better option.

Runrepeat measured the drop of the Sky+ and it's actually 2.7mm - not 5mm as advertised. Have you tried the Sky+ and compared it to Sky Paris? I've heard some people say the Paris is more forgiving, I totally sign on what you said that the Sky+ definitely needs a precise running form.

17 minute marathon PR (3:08:22 @ 60 years old) in the VF 3 so I have to stick with them. Too hard to figure out Sky/Edge for me and can't spend $500 to figure it out...

Sky is better. I had both and am sending the Edge back. Join ASICS One club and you can use shoes for 90 days before sending them back.

@@JackD87 Been a member since they started it. I still have to pay $500 in an attempt to figure out which shoe might work. Kinda dumb. I'll stick with the AF 3 (and all the other super shoes I have). I can't see how either of these shoes could be better for me.

Just got sky and did a 10k - nice and easy will take it for the Brooklyn Half as opposed to my usual Pro 3. Also, I believe Kieran did a PB in the Manchester Marathon wearing the sky.

The sky Paris ripped my toes to shreds at Boston a few days ago. Id done about 25k before the marathon in them, but the pain and blisters came on from mile 6 onwards. Not sure why- maybe the long downhill not suited to my gait and this shoe.

I was waiting for this comparison, I ran Manchester Marathon in VF3 didn’t feel I would have had enough time test the ASICS to try them. VF3 was good for marathon and softer than VF2 and just as light I wouldn’t have trusted the VF2 for 26.2. I have the pretty much similar durability issue with the VF3 with only 40 odd miles but not that bad. Asics could be the shoe I go for at Berlin this year.

VF3 a disappointment after the 1 & 2, Hoka Rocket X2 was best choice until the Sky Paris came along. For me it's the best 5k and 10k racing shoe and vies with the AF3 for half and above, although I'd probably still go AF3 for marathon.

Not tried the VF3 but don’t particularly like the feeling of the VF2 or the way it makes me run, just too aggressive although very fast. Got the Sky Paris, fantastic shoe. Everything I was hoping it would be. I’m a midfoot striker and definitely a cadence runner!

@@jameslucena I’ve got a fraction more length in the Sky Paris compared with the VF2. The VF2 is slightly narrower at the front, so for me feels tighter. I have the same UK size for both. Hope that helps!

ive now run in both. as a 2hr40 mara guy and the asica metaspeed is faster and gives you more back. the vaporfly is still incredible and i really enjoy running it in too and its still so fast. its just a slight advantage to the paris for me

I'm glad Nike tried to be clever with the AF3 drops as I missed out and ended up picking up the Asics Edge Paris. Never had an Asics raceday shoe before so can't compare to previous editions but I do have the VF3 and I prefer the Edge. In terms of performance Nike been top of the pile for years in my opinion.. until now. The Edge Paris falls away on foot and the quickness in turnover I felt was incredible. Now there is recency bias and I have just run a 10k PB in my last race with them but I do really feel these are the best raceday shoe I currently have, and I have a lot! They are firmer than the VF3 but not firm, it's all relative and I prefer that feel, kind of like the Takumi Sen 8. The VF3 is a brilliant shoe of course but I'll be picking the Asics Edge Paris for my half next month.

I just ran a marathon in the Adios Pro 3 but only because it was wet and the grip on it is good (only the DN Elite 2 has better grip but I wouldn't run past a half in them). The Adios Pro 3 is a solid shoe but there is no way I would choose it over the Vaporfly or EP3 in dry conditions.

The first version was a major fail, people said it was too firm and not enough foam under the forefoot and the first metaspeed sky was a really good shoe!...it was only until they brought out the Metaspeed edge plus, is when people gave it a chance. The update gave it a little more foam but by then, the damage was already done to it's reputation. But the Metaspeed edged Paris is finally starting to get some love, even though I still think many still feel the Sky Paris is the safer choice.

Great review, and just goes to show how much of the feel is down to individual opinion! Kieran saying the Vaporfly is better when getting tired whereas Mike saying the Sky! Im still struggling to decide whether to go with the Sky Paris or Alphafly 3 for Boston (UK) marathon this weekend 🤔

Hello run-testers, I don’t get why you make these terrible fit-advices. In the same size the Nike is 0,5cm longer. So you can’t say they are both true to size. And this explains why you mentioned the roomier fit of the Vaporfly.

I had an issue with the metaspeed sky with rubbing on my little toe =, so it was too narrow me. This wasn't an issue in the Vaporfly V2, Alphafly V1 or Endorphin Pro 3....is the Metaspeed Sky Paris no different in that regard, do you thjnk?

Unfortunately the VP3 keeps ticking in the arc of my foot. I used to wear the VP2 for long distance / race day, but the VP3 is narrower and didn’t work for me. I felt that the Metaspeed is a little bit harder while running, and returns less energy than the VP3. But the MS tends to fit better in the majority of cases.
