Two shoes that you like? Your review of the nb5 wasn't exactly glowing, the gist was that the nb4 was better and the comments in this remain broadly consistent. The nb4 is currently cheap now the 5 is out. Many influencers are falling over themselves to plug the nb5, I'm guessing asics has a decent influencer marketing budget? You are more impartial than many, which is why I trust your reviews. I'm waiting for your views on the ride 18.

Not really. Perhaps we all have different feet. I have both NB4 and NB5. I prefer the NB5 without a doubt.

I second that. I have both and the NB5 is night and day betterthen NB4. It feels like a totally different shoe. New foam, heel bevel, upper and lacking system. I find Run Testers err on the side of caution in their reviews. I would recommend that people, as with all online review's, take their feedback with a pinch of salt, read between the lines and if tempted try the shoes themselves.

Yes well said stop watching reviews mate get of the couch get a pair of shoes and run in them, nb5 will be more than sufficient for you as I’m assuming your not an elite pro runner maybe even if you are the nb5 is a good daily trainer

Never tried any of the Novablast models, but the SB2 has been a banger. I look forward to wearing them whenever it's their turn in rotation.

I think that the Superblast 2 has very good outsole grip. Last night I was out in very wet and rainy conditions in near freezing temperatures and the outsole felt quite grippy.

I strongly believe Novablast 5 is a lot more useful than the Superblast. Superblast is like a second luxury car to go to parties with. Not a 100% necessary shoe in a rotation.

If you get the Superblast 2, you will have a very versatile shoe that is better than the Novablast in every way. There would be literally no reason to ever go out for a run in the Novablast. I would say though to get rid of the cheap insole from the superblast 2 and put in a better insole that suits you. I like the rather flat shaped Boomerang Footbed, which is an excellent TPU based insole from Inov-8

What makes you suggest a different insole? I have SB2 and first few runs I have had sore feet (dealing with plantar fasciitis currently) so this peaked my interest! Ordered the enertor insole to try but may have to give inov8 ones a go

I have both NB5 and SB2 and I disagree. The NB5 has a more flexible sole. Some of my runs are up and down foothills and I find that flexibility better. Also, the heel bevel is much less pronounced on the NB5 and again, this makes running up and down hills easier as there's less blocky foam under foot. The NB5 feels more agile and nimble. I also find the NB5 has more spring. So I think it depends on the runner and where they're running. Added to which (sorry to keep banging on!) is the aspect of value. If you have a £200 pair of shoes you might want to extend their life by adding another similar but less expensive option into your rotation.

​@@TomUK7i fully agree with you on this. .i have a SB2 and a clifton 9 (for daily) but i really want to have the feeling of sb2 without sacrificing its life sooner or later because i really don't get much comfort in the clifton9. .seems like I want to have the nb5 for my easy runs and 10k's and if I need faster shoes, I can do that on the sb2. So yeah, i really want to have the nb5 or nb4 but i'm torn between the two.

I do have the SB2 and NB4 and I use the latter purely for my weekly easy runs. For everything longer and/or faster I use the SB2. To be honest I'd use the SB2 for absolutely everything, if I wasn't concernced about their longevity. Guess it would be pretty much the same, if I had a pair of NB5. There is no way back for me from the SB2 :D

Have gotten somewhere to 900+km on my SB1's and well on my way with the SB2's so for that plus the ability to run at many different speeds will stick with them.

Superblast are very unstable and wobbly at least for me. Novablast 4&5 are very stable and i hardly felt any other difference in both. The colorways though are hands down the best for superblasts. Novablast colorways are just weird and boring in comparison.

I don’t think they are similar but I would say the Nova 4 is a bit closer to the SB2 than the Nova 5 is, but again yeah still quite different shoes.
