The opposite of Matt miles must be Jay miles. My shoes all pack out in the midsole or have the upper split (also very, very late) well before I can wear the outsole.

Matt, like you, I am a stability shoe wearer, and was struggling which shoe to choose for my first ever marathon this past Sunday. I had narrowed it down to the ASICS Gel Kayano 30, Saucony Guide 15 or the Superblast. I wore the Superblast, and it gave me enough support for the entire run, and had plenty of traction, even as it rained heavily from mile 18 until the end. I now have 150 miles on the shoe and feel confident wearing it more often.

At 325 miles, wouldn't be surprised if I can take them to 500 miles. Outsole is slowly starting to show some wear. Other than that, still comfortable and at the same time snappy enough for faster workouts 🙂 Superblast 2 should be on sale by August (Europe at least). Please, take my money 😛

My family go this shoe for me for my birthday in September, it is my Marathon shoe. Did a couple of runs to get used to the stack of the shoe, but then it's been a half and full marathon runner. I'm a 4-4.5 hour marathon pace, so no need for carbon plates and prefer a light, plateless cushioned shoe to protect my feet. I can also pick up the pace in this one, so love the shoe

I reach for them for almost every long run (especially long run workouts, for which they have been perfect 👌🏻) and maybe a few tempo workouts around threshold pace. I had to use lace lock lacing for lockdown, but probably my all time favorite shoe❤️

Shared this video to a friend of mine. I got mine last yr for Sydney Marathon, im at 200+ miles now and still feels new. This is by far the best shoe i have ever owned since i started running. Comfort, durability, versatility, weight isnt too bad, fit is okay for me, no heel slippage. I call it the “one quiver shoe”, and ive been recommending this shoe to my friends. It’s AUD340 but it’s definitely worth it. I’d say grab another pair if it’s on sale.

Thanks Matt for the review...200 miles review is more usage than most reviewers but it's still not really a lot... My pair pf Novablast 3 TR has 500 miles and still going and I've heard that the outsole of the non TR version which has less rubber tends to get really worn down at 500 miles. In comparison, I logged around 1100-1150 miles in a couple of Prime X shoes... and there was still continental rubber everywhere (I stopped wearing them mostly because of a change in the behavior of the rods)

My go-to long run shoes. • Triumph 20 in 2E Good fit, but I didn’t like the ride. Okay: • Clifton 9 in 2E Not wide enough. Leaves a red line on my medial side on long runs due to rubbing where the midsole and upper meet. • Rebel v3 in 2E Midfoot was still too narrow, but it’s doable. 600 K on mine - going strong! I find my HR lower at the same paces when I’m running in them compared to other non plated “ trainers” If I was to change anything in the V2- - less cut outs in the outsole so I can take them on some non technical - hard packed / gravel trails - current outsole is a rock magnet. They would be my choice for ultra’s of that terrain. - might improve the laces - very thin and add a tiny bit of padding on the tongue.

It’s great seeing a higher mileage review of the superblast. I’m currently juggling with the decision for novablast 4 vs superblast. I’m not sure how big of a difference it’d be for me personally, and I wasn’t sure about the durability for the price for the superblast. But the price is only 60 more and if it can last way longer than expected and be that versatile, it would be the best shoe to train in!

I didn't start liking this shoe until about 60km. My knees were hurting with this shoe for about the first 30km to the point were I was sure I would be returning them. Likely because the rocker is not pronounced at the front and its very stiff until broken in somewhat causing all the energy to go to my knees, as per the DoctorsofRunning review article of this shoe. Didn't have any knee pain with any other shoes. Works better at slightly faster paces such as marathon pace, not ideal for super slow recovery runs, I use the MoreV4 for that because I'm slow. Very good built quality, agree if the upper tapered a bit less in the toebox it would be perfect but its still wider in the toebox then any Saucony or Puma shoes I have tried for TTS. I have no heel slip now that it's broken in. I hope the update is not just the upper but that they tweak that midsole rocker at the front a bit.

I'm glad I don't like them because everyone else seems to love them and they're always sold out. FF Turbo feels insufficiently soft/bouncy for how stiff, broad, and non-rockered the shoe is. Part of that is probably me being small/light too. I get why people love them though and they are kinda the people's marathon and training shoe that can do it all and provide a supershoe experience for like a marathon without being too aggressive in geometry or unstable or plate-centric. I think people less advanced in running/training tend to spend a lot more time running moderate paces too, so I wonder how much of the love for shoes like this, Prime X, or even Alphafly for general daily use is a lack of experience/understanding in polarization of training and that people are running their easy runs too fast. I think the Superblast is decent for moderate paces but still kinda some quad killers and don't spend that much time there running like 6-6:30/mi other than building back between training blocks before real workouts or some long runs, but I find them far too stiff and firm for easy runs and too slow/bulky/unresponsive for real faster workouts. The Prime X is similar in its pace ranges for me, but I get the appeal as just a fun bouncy moderate paces shoe where the Superblast is much more serious/practical for those. To me, the Endorphin Speed 3/4 is just better in all regards though. It's more soft/comfortable/flexible for easy runs, but also more nimble and energetic for faster or moderate runs.

On my 3rd pair with another pair in reserve/backup. First 2 pairs lasted approximately 300 miles each before outsoles wore out and started to eat into midsole - and even at 300 miles with chunks missing from the midsole still was comfy and 90% snappy as new. If I’d milked them, hey probably could’ve gone 400 but I wanted new ones and retired them. I actually disagree with the upper portion of this review. I think upper comfort is one of its best underrated features, so much toe room. I’ve been having Morton’s neuroma symptoms, and I found spreading my toes apart as far as I can while walking relieves the pinched nerve between the metatarsals somewhat, and there’s so much room in the toebox for that, even with an insert with a metatarsal bump installed under the insole, I can’t see how they could widen it even more without messing up the fit? I can’t imagine any other shoe having more toebox room besides altras/topos etc. but I guess depends on the individual and it’s subjective apparently. These are definitely the shoes I reach for 80% of the time. So comfy. I prefer the comfort of these over the nimbus 25 which is actually the shoes that had no toebox room for me and tapered. I almost wonder if he was confusing them. If I had to complain, They just need better outsole material, grippier and more hard wearing and durable would make them absolutely perfect for me;Just put better AHAR on it, Asics. Next Biggest complaint would be colorways… I think the green on green and light green with light blue misdsole look the best in person, but the other colors are quite meh. Wish they had colorways comparable to novablast colorways at least. Nonetheless, My fav GOAT shoes by far.

Fantastic shoe, still going strong, I keeping an eye open for discounts for the next one, but hard to find. "Old Man Van Running" channel is an channel for stability runners and he is using SuperBlast in his rotation. The wide platform and firm foam is usable for runners with light to moderate stability needs. If you look at Kayano 30 which is a serious stability shoe in fact it also relies heavily on wider platform these days. The old days where stability shoes with firm plastic medial posts are in the past and stability shoes and stable neutral shoes are very close in design now.

I think they made an episode reviewing if there's any faster /super shoes for stability. And saucony tempus and hoka mach x was mentioned. FWIW I have not tried tempus or mach, but i have flat feet and PTTD, 5'7, 60kg and i ran a half marathon in superblast with a lace up ankle brace. No pains next day, felt so easy to run and bouncier than novablast 4 which is also surprisingly stable. Novablast 3 was a 100% incompatible shoe but nova 4 and superblast feel surprisingly stable. Try em on if you can. Note the superblast runs half size long compared to usual sizing is the common complaint which i found true too. Other "fast" i tried which were horrible were nb sc elite, 1080 v13, adidas boston 12, adios pro3, speed 3, pro 3.

No real active stability elements in the shoe but personally I find them super stable just from the extra wide base and stiffer midsole, albeit it’s really stacked andd high so that in itself can make it a bit less stable I am guessing? But haven’t felt any pronation at all. New Balance shoes for example for comparison, the fuelcell midsoles are often so soft makes me pronate no matter what - I got the SC elite v4 and the sc trainer v2, both of which makes me noticeably pronate. But I’ve never felt like I’ve pronated in Superblasts and I’m on my third pair of superblasts - have always felt super stable. But, I think my ankles are somewhat strong from Tae Kwom Do as a kid, so can’t say. Only can say subjectively, I’ve never had problems myself. Last year, tried Hoka Clifton 9s, brooks ghost 15, NB sc elite v4, SC trainer V2, hoka Rocket 2, puma Deviate Nitro 2, ASICS nimbus 25, and recently got a saucony triumph 19 on sale. For me, the Superblasts actually feel the most secure in terms of stability out of all those shoes just due to the wide base and stiff midsole, with only the Saucony Tirumph 19 perhaps being comparable in stability for me. But I’m a pretty neutral runner I think, so take it as you will. If I rank those shoes in terms of stability, I’d put superblasts and triumph tied as most stable. Clifton 9 and nimbus and deviate nitro 2(puma grip outsole grip is so amazing it actually helps make the shoes feel more secure and stable) coming second. And the rest as third with NB SC Elite V4 as the most unstable; Rocket 2 felt quite unsure and unstable for me as well. Just my subjective 2 cents. One bad about the Superblasts however, don’t expect a lot of outsole grip. It’s the shoes’ weakest point in my opinion.

One thing they could improve on are the "holes" in the outsole/midsole that picks up stones/rocks. VERY annoying. 550k in mine and still going, not the most popp shoes anymore but still good for the long runs, easy runs and some mp pace workouts. Exacting to see how long they can go. Btw, the wear is minimal. A lot of shoe for the money!

I have over 200 on mine. I usually only take shoes to 250 but I’m nowhere near ready to let these go

At 250 miles on my Superblast, looks great still. Wish ASICS made a trail equivalent with FF Turbo. :)

Thanks for the review.. I currently run a minimum of 50 miles per week in daily training mode...so are you saying these shoes are only good for about 10 weeks or two and a half months of running at optimum level....seems like a lot of cash to spend for something you have to replace over 4 times per year.

My asics superblast insole print (the print word off " SUPERBLAST") already worn out, is it normal? Only run it for 10mile
