Lillie Ellis you shouldn't take it wrong. I wore glasses and I switched to contacts as soon I could and that was back in '96. I know I look better without glasses! I've never been happier. Btw I was going to say even if she wears glasses she's hiding her beautiful eyes and she should get something that flatters them! It's ok if you want to keep wearing your glasses not everyone is comfortable putting contacts on but just because someone says you look better doesn't mean there insulting you. They are simply noticing features on you that are naturally beautiful. Be who you are but stay positive!

She has said that she uses her hair and glasses as almost curtains to hide behind, and I don't think she should, because she is beautiful, and I think that the bold eyes draws more attention to her eyes, which is what she was trying to avoid, so that's why she doesn't wear that style of makeup. That's just admitting they don't have the skills to make a beautiful garment for different body types. Coming from a fashion designer. Painters can paint on a variety of different canvas sizes, from micropaintings to 14 foot murals, why can't fashion designers do the same?

tanukigalpa Because as artists they can choose whatever canvas they want and they choose thinner taller models because clothes are more figure flattering on them and the attention is more on the clothes than the models because they all look the same. No one pressures a painter or a sculptor about learning other canvases so why does everyone down high fashion designers for their choice in models?

The fact that people with bodies that are not deemed perfect by society can struggle to find clothes is ridiculous. +E S17 As a fashion designer, I must ask that you please don't speak on this topic again as if you understand the industry. I don't know where you get your degrading ideas about models from (our horrible media) but they're wrong. I will admit some designers might actually see it that way, in which case they are also wrong and horribly sexist. A body is not a hanger, and the tallness or thinness of a body has NOTHING to do with how well the clothes drape upon the figure. Only the skill of the designer. And even if it is about the design and artistry of the clothes, the figure of a person factors into that. Yes, what's painted on a canvas is more important than the shape or size of the canvas itself, but the shape and size definitely factor into the design and composition and should NOT be ignored. And I realize that people and canvases are vastly different, but it's an analogy. You can compare vastly different things if a key aspect makes them relatable. Like how you can say clouds are like big white pillows you could lay your head on - they're vastly different but for this one specific concept, I can compare them. Some people have a hard time understanding why designers need to design for different body types, so I compare it to a different art field that is more understandable to the general public and isn't stained with sexism and beliefs drilled into our heads by the media.
