Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I’ve been reading the comments and many of them are about how no one who actually lives in the country would wear those styles on a regular basis (for various reasons)...as far as I could tell from watching the video she wasn’t meant to be wearing everyday clothes. She’s wearing high fashion designer clothes. They aren’t meant to be traditional or even casual they’re legit just clothes made by south Asian fashion designers. Also, I know her nose rings are VERY noticeable, but it’s not like she just picked them up randomly. They were gifts from her mom.

Sri Lankans, Indians, Bangladeshis and Pakistanis wear their traditional clothes all the time here in the UK. I've grown up used to it, and as someone who is half French half Moroccan I've never thought to explore Moroccan inspired fashion so maybe I'll give it a try.

Well! She definitely looked gorgeous in all of those outfits! But... There are outfits which are south Asian and are super comfortable and SUPER casual. My WHOLE family wears south Asian clothes, almost everyday, and they do not wear such fancy outfits! Like for example a simple white kurta and some plazo pants are super casual yet south asian! Also a PLAIN saree is SUPER south Asian and SUPER casual!!!! My point is, if anyone wants to incorporate south Asian clothes into their outfits, you can, super casually!

yeah I was thinking that originally but I rewatched that part and I actually think he menus that's it's normal to wear these clothes for fancy events. Like if I wore this in Pakistan, people would think "Oh she's going to a wedding". But in the USA theyd be a bit puzzled since in America we would wear short dresses for weddings (for the most part). I don't think they meant its normal to wear everyday. It would cause attention in South Asian countries, but not a puzzling attention since they wear those clothes to special events so they already understand.

I really like the representation she is trying to show here by getting in touch with her heritage but as a Sri Lankan I can tell you that most of her clothes are not Sri Lankan, except for maybe the yellow textured billowy pants and that colourful textured top. And that would have probably been worn to a party or a function. On a daily basis, we just wear normal clothes here, jeans and tops, pants and work blouses. The most practical ethnic wear would have been a normal sari, a kandyan sari, kurtha and jeans or a salwar. And she didn't incorporate Batik work, which is one of the most popular type of designs in Sri Lanka. Wearing a lehenga to a mall here, wld have still earned you looks. Lol. So that dude who says, that wldn't have earned her looks in Sri Lanka is way off base. I wld suggest visiting us sometime soon to see what we wear and to try out some local Sri Lankan designers. Saying that, I still liked that she tried to incorporate ethnic wear into her day to day life, but it was pretty generic south asian ethnic wear. Not Sri Lankan.

These were not daily wear clothes for us south asian girls.. We prefer more like kurta with jeans, salwar, plazzo, legging or maybe top with loose plazzo, salwar.. Encomprate some accessories like funky necklace, rings or earrings is more of daily look... What nina tried was look for ceremonies and such.. Never mind no girl here will work with big nose ring or bajuband in day to day life.. Overall it was nice but not realistic
