body positivity guts the entire purpose of this video and scatters the guts across the floor. this video is about how you should strive to improve yourself despite the disdain of the others who don't have to try. this video is about self-actualization and loving yourself while ignoring the haters, but you should self-actualize into a form better for your health than the tub of lard, depression, and poor memory that is endimic to fatness. I could write an entire essay on this. In the same way that starvation victims tend to be predisposed towards mood swings, lethargy, and intense emotions in addition to bad ankles, backs, etc, overweight people tend to be predisposed towards depression, lethargy, and poor memory in addition to the bad ankles, backs, and etc. it's incredibly fascinating how the two states parallel each other

Not for reasons of feeling fat though. Like drugs, sometimes purging is a toxic coping mechanism of eliminating stress temporarily. It's making yourself feel temporarily like the bad memories have left your system, but they haven't and your just damaging yourself further in the end. Anxiety & the brain relate, that's why some people turn to or away from food when stressed out. I wish it didn't have to be that way... 😕

@Salad Floof I had a friend who at one point was a bit overweight, and then later on developed anorexia. It got so bad that she had to go to the hospital... After she came out of the hospital, her parents took her to a dietician to help give her some guidelines on what she can eat to help keep her healthy. This dietician told her that yes, it is important to eat healthy most of the time, but that you are allowed to have cheat days and that she in fact recommends cheat days! Like @Mackenzie Cameron said in the comments, too much restriction makes people miserable and can lead to eating disorders, so by treating yourself to some ice cream or pizza every now and then is actually amazing for your mental health!

This is the first "fat acceptance" video I actually find accurate and helpful. It doesn't transmit a false and harmful message that your fatness is perfect and you should forget about your diet and training. Instead it motivates you to accept your body at its current state and use the power you gain from this acceptance to further lose weight and get stronger. Feeling shame can often put you in depression and loss of motivation. You shouldn't feel ashamed. You should feel motivated to live and change. You should be happy and proud about your small achievements and get motivated by each extra gram you lose.

But what is the right way to think, because yeah you should love yourself, accept yourself for what you are currently, but what does that even mean for someone who's never been able to accept who they are. Easy. Nowdays, gyms are not a place to work out, they are a place to show off.Instagram models visit gyms regulary just to post pictures of themselves in the gym. They are proud of their beautiful face, of their beautiful bodies. A gym is for them a place to show others how beautiful you are, gyms are not a place to work out. They body shame her, because in their opinion(not in mine), she doesn't have a "right" to show off. The same if I post now a picture without make up, or wearing modest clothes. I like how she was still exercising at the end of the video. Because it emphasizes that we should accept and love ourselves for what we are but still care about our health. It's not about "I need to look differently", it's just about "I don't want to have diabetes/heart attack/etc" so I'm glad to see a bit bigger people accepting themselves but not seeing acceptance as an excuse to stop caring about their health.

Move more, eat less. It’s not that hard. You can have that donut... just eat half and save the rest for later... and drink plenty of water, sleep, and a 30 min walk everyday will not hurt. Again, it’s not that hard. It took you 3 years to put on the weight, it will take you 3 years to take it off.

@@willaustin6453 in theory the concept is very simple, but for a lot of people it isn't easy to implement! Some (myself included) have a very unhealthy relationship with food. Sounds great! Until you think about it and find out that's the one of the most BS PC thing someone might say. Not only do we live in a society, with people, which means that a lot of stuff we do is definitely not for ourselves (I would go to work in underwear if it weren't for my colleagues). But also, besides health, I don't think there is a real reason someone would want to lose weight which doesn't involve others. I'm still curious about it

@@mohamedaminehadji6415 well I'm losing weight for myself and not bc someone told me to. Well I started to like tight shirts and crop tops and I hate the way it looks on me rn bc I'm not fit so I want to lose weight to look in the mirror and be proud of myself for the change I could make, not to please others. I want to do it so I can try on tons of clothes and be like my own model in a way. No one told me anything bad about my body. In fact, my family tells me that I'm good and my friends never talk about it. It's just that I want to get a flat belly and look the way I want to look. I want to be the person I want be, not for other's compliments but only to be happy when I look in the mirror and not disappointed
@mohamedaminehadji64154 жыл бұрын
@@bluesoul1260 I'm sorry but this seems very... odd for me in a sense. Don't get me wrong, I'm in the same situation as you: I'm trying to lose weight and get fit because I love tight clothes; my family and friends think that's ridiculous because I already look good to them; and technically, I'm still healthy. However, the more I thought about it, the more I found out that I'm doing it for others. I can still wear tight clothes without being thin and fit, and yes, I'd prefer to look fitter in the mirror, but I don't spend my life in front of a mirror. Actually, I only look into a mirror in the morning and before going to bed. Basically, I'm losing weight to achieve what I think other people would find "hot", and if I were to spend the rest of my day alone in a deserted island, I wouldn't care how I look like. More real: now that my country is in a lockdown because of COVID-19 and I don't have to see anyone except the people I live with, I don't care at all about how I look, because I know nobody else can see it. Maybe you're right, but I always found the whole "I want to look good for myself" a bit off... somehow hypocritical, or even (sorry to offend) quite narcissistic. Why would someone care about their appearance in the mirror? How much time do they spend in front of a mirror? It just seems too weird...

While I am concerned about the growing levels of obesity, I've never understood why you'd bash someone who's trying to lose weight and/or be healthy. That makes no sense. Encourage them. Offer to help them at the gym or go on runs with them as support, that is, if you know them or they're comfortable with you. But don't just tear them down. They're trying. My God.
@benjamincrew19497 жыл бұрын
Leslie Seymour Absolutely. I do NOT support people that think you can be obese and healthy, but if that person is trying, you should absolutely cheer them on. That goes for any positive change they're trying to make. It goes the opposite way too though. You do not give someone negative reinforcement by telling an obese person "You don't need to lose weight!" or "You can be healthy and obese!" That's objectively wrong and you are helping that person hurt themselves.

As someone currently “struggling with her weight,” this hit me really hard. I put that in quotes because it’s not my weight that I’m struggling with- it’s my own self image. I typed that same phrase into the search bar once… As this point in my life and in my mind, I couldn’t have clicked on this video at a more perfect time. A lot of women need to hear the message presented here. Thanks.

Trying to loose weight is no joke. It was the hardest accomplishment in my life. Having the will power to stay away from the junk in my cabinets is so challenging. My family won’t stop buying it. But it’s not their fault. They don’t have to live for me. Its my job to live for myself. What do I do? I go for a walk. And keep my mind off it. And once I got to my goal weight, I felt so happy with myself. I feel more confident than ever. You only live once. So live your happiest life. Don’t ever give up on anything. I went from being almost 300 lbs consistently feeling weak and out of breath to now 144lbs. And I couldn’t feel any better about myself.

You know, I really don’t get why people make fun of obese people at the gym or on social media when their trying to lose weight or become healthier. We should be encouraging them because their the ones actually doing something to make their lives better! I’m super envious of people that have the motivation to change their lives all on their own like that. Some people just don’t have the willpower or motivation, so when I see someone who’s really trying to change their life even in that moment, it makes me super happy and proud of them.

He saw me outside running and saw my form was bad.m (He does cross country and track) and he ran with me everyday and made sure I ran everyday and got a cheat day occasionally. It was like having a free trainer. I lost 13 pounds and I can finally sort of run at his pace. Sadly he moved away and now I’m back to running alone. i like that at the end of the video, she still continued to work out. not for other people, but for herself. accepting ourselves doesn’t mean we should just sit around and do nothing. it’s to accept our bodies but at the same time improve ourselves to live a better and happier life. people are always going to judge you no matter what, but in the end it’s up to what you really want for yourself. do what you think is best for you. believe in yourself.
@ConniSmiley7 жыл бұрын
*YES.* This reminds me of how I finally learned to accept my body and now I work out to stay healthy and strong, not to lose weight. I also love how she was inspired by the confidence of another plus sized girl and they looked *great* in their bathing suits :)

this video actually made me cry a bit. growing up my mom would bodyshame me everytime she felt like it. i would go to school and see all the other girls with the “perfect body”, plus bullying made it worse. i remember looking into the mirror and breaking down. it was so horrible, i ended up developing an eating disorder. my ed caused me to drop to an extreme unhealthy weight, even then, my mom kept shamming me. looking back now, i’m so greatful i got out of that toxic household. seeing this video and the end when she’s happy again it makes me so happy to see other people’s storys. i don’t think people realize how much of an impact commenting a simple “lose weight” comment can affect others. NEVER BODYSHAME!!

This made me so emotional considering the fact that I constantly look at my body on the mirror and just look at myself disgustingly. I have always been told that I am not that big but I still have those insecurities deep within me. I still feel that way but I am trying to regain confidence and change the way I eat and exercise not because of what disrespectful people think of my appearance but because I want to change the way I live my life and become more healthier.

Baby Girl I never said I sat on the couch and just ate chips. It's just the way I eat. I'm in college doing great and eating pretty well but there are times when I stress eat or when I just don't feel full. I may even have a eating disorder that I don't know about but even if I don't have one it's people who make comments like this that have some people insecure about their weight. Assuming that they are just lazy and eat just to eat.
