2 great grandfathers were in the 11th corps. The 82nd OVI were north of town. The 55th was back at the Cemetery, having been shot up pretty good at Chancellorsville.

My 3rd great-grandfather was in the 55th Ohio also. This segment has been very interesting.

I’ve hired Stuart twice for 4-hour 11th Corps tours. They were outstanding. He knows more about this part of the battle than anyone there. With two ancestors in this part of the battle, he’s passionate and knowledgeable. This part of the battle is so overlooked yet vital to understanding what happened. On July 2nd, many of these men were positioned at the base of East Cemetery Hill, fighting in the dark against Hayes and Avery. Another poor position and thin line but they fought bravely. Adelbert Ames, colonel of the 20th Maine was transferred to the 11th corps shortly before the battle which led to Chamberlain’s promotion to colonel of the 20th Maine. Ames’ 11th Corps men were at Barlow’s Knoll and East Cemetery HIll.

Does Gettyburg Daily ever get updated? I'm almost positive I've subscribed before but don't get anything new.

@@jumpmaster82nd. No, not really. Sad there's nothing new going in there, but it's still a fantastic resource. There are lots of other resoiurces today that we didn't have back when TGD was active.

Had 2 ancestors in the 73rd OVI. A 2nd Lt. In D Company and a 1st Sgt. in G Company. They were cousins. Going to have to hire Stewart myself someday to get into that fight a bit deeper.

I just pronounce "Krzyzanowski" as Shuh-SHEV-ski since apparently the letters have nothing to do with pronunciation for these guys.

Same as the Duke basketball coach? Spelled very differently though.

Hard K sound mixed with a thick z sound, the y is the equivalent of the short i sound in English, a is equivalent of the short a sound in English, the o sounds like "awe" in English, the w is our v sound and ski is the same as ski as in snow ski. Everything is pronounced.
