Game developers listen up. A 13+ year old game (Reflex) is considered by most to be the hands down best MX game of all time. Time to step up and improve upon it.

well it's not an excuse the code was actually lost, I'm willing to bet as a company if they knew people would buy it, and they had access to it, they would repackage it because it would sell. and developing a physics system to perfectly resemble another by feel is incredibly difficult, even for professional developers the hardest part of any game is the physics, you can't just purchase a game engine and have that included with the fancy graphics, you have to make that from scratch our best bet is finding the original developers and offering them whatever it takes to make them say yes, finding some random genius and paying them x amount, or reverse engineering the game files when computers become powerful enough (or if someone works at Google or Microsoft and feels like risking their job with one of their computers) and making sense of whatever messy source code comes from that and implementing it into an open source project hopefully without legal issues OR we mod the existing reflex to connect to 3rd party servers if the OG ones die someday on PC and improve the plugin manager for in-game track and gear/mod downloading and add tweaks for camera angles and such there's probably a lot of untapped potential even though a lot has been done already idk

Anstie and Anderson know what's up. Supercross Circuit was ahead of its time in 1999, and while MX Superfly was "just an improvement" on MX 2002 ft. Ricky Carmichael, it balanced the realistic AI competitive racing with the fun of 2-player split screen mini games and competitions. I'm talking long jumps over buses, head to head high jump contests, moto golf, and tons of secrets like climbing up through the ventilation system to the rafters of one of the arenas or finding Sal the Alien by getting outside the map. The game had it all.

Hell yeah! Reflex is my all time favorite, but mx 2002 featuring Carmichael was sick as hell. If you held the power slide button and turned in the face of a jump, you would end up scrubbing. Mx vs atv unleashed is also another sick one.

MTX Mototrax hands down. Content, music, compounds, tricks, tracks, riders, game modes etc. Nothing comes close. It was just too early for its time. But just like Reflex they haven't aged the best. Reflex is alright on PC but it's aged quite a bit for consoles. If reflex had more content on consoles like it does on PC it would still be up there. Still the 2 goats of moto games in my personal opinion. Awesome question to mix it up a bit, it's nice hearing different questions get asked than the normal we hear each week.

When people say reflex is the king were talking about physics of the game and nothing more. The track deformation the whips being freed up it was just eye candy. Now its cartoony stiff physics. Alive was the downfall and it never improved.

@Wire Pros That's why I said it hasn't aged well. It's very clunky and the pop in is awful on console. That game holds alot of nostalgia for people, and I think that's why most people love it. When you really get down to picking it apart it is very clunky and outdated but it's still fun to pick up and play every once in awhile.

Reflex is the GOAT. Mx bikes, and MX sim are awesome, but Reflex was the right amount of skill sealing, and fun mixed together. Give us REFLEX 2.0!

I have very fond memories of the pre release demo. Just doing moto after moto with the RC character at Sugar Ridge. Pretty cool how we got to play the demo a month before release to build hype. Such a fun game

Couple key takeaways: No one mentioned the modern "Monster Energy Supercross the Game 1-5" which was funny. And two, a TON of riders said MX vs ATV 1/2 and MX Unleashed and even cited hating the dual joysticks aspect. I fully agree with this. Why dont the new developers just try ONE GAME that's a throwback to the original controls/physics/gameplay of MX vs ATV 1/2/unleashed and give it a try?!

Mx Vs Atv Unleashed will always be my favorite bc they had everything from Bikes, Quads, Sandrails, Golf Carts, Monster Trucks, etc. you could do supermoto, hillclimbs, huge free ride maps and my dad just had bought a brand new YFZ 450r and they had the exact same year model in the game, thought it was so cool. But reflex was kinda a better more improved Unleashed but it was missing things unleashed had but also added things that it didn’t. They are the best motorcross games of all time.

Really love this bit, had to be one of Kellen’s ideas. Stoked most of them Said Mx Vs Atv Reflex. It’s timeless, a Modern Classic Arcade Moto Game. Why we won’t get another Reflex; THQ Was Filing for Bankruptcy so they had to lay off Devs and they lost the original code that’s why Alive and the newer title were lackluster. As far as the recent games I enjoyed have to be MxGp3, MESX 1, and Mx Bikes Still My Favs are Mx Unleashed, Mx Vs Atv Unleashed, Untamed, and Reflex! Milestone has yet to improve as they keep regressing from each new release.

I get it, I played drums for over 20yrs and I hate guitar hero and rock band drumming. For these guys if it's too much a simulation than they'd notice the difference too much, but an arcade style game is so far from reality they could just have fun with it.
