I started with yoga, now I do calisthenics. They work really well together.

@@stevethea5250I've been doing yoga for 5 years and have been combining the 2 for the last 5 months. I like doing both and tend to do breathwork and cold dips with both.

This might be incorrect, but I think a key difference between Yoga and Calisthenics is the concept of 'reps'. Calisthenics involves repeated repitions of a specific movement to track intensity, something that is not usually found in Yoga. Yoga might repeat poses or hold them for certain periods of time but I've never come across the practice of counting repitions in Yoga practice.

Hey Hey Al! I've started to add yoga to my workout with Universal strenght, and I notice that my shoulders are feeling better and also my mind is more focused and relaxed

Thanks, brother! Just come back from yoga, and I have to agree. Initially yoga felt like "exercise" but after a few months (I've been doing yoga since last summer) I'm really getting the mind benefits, and it's really helped both my calisthenics and lifts, as well as my overall health.

Hey Al, I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. 1- What is more healthy for the shoulder joint straight bar dips or Bp dips? I feel the straight is more comfortable! 2- Can I skip horizontal rows if I can do pull ups or would I get an injury for imbalance? rows are easy for me! 3- What is an alternative exercise for rows for mid section of the back? Or are pull ups enough for the entire of the back? 5- How can an imbalance between exercises of different muscle groups lead to an injury? 6- What exercises you would add to this full body routine for someone is training to get the strength foundation for the harder movements: push ups, pull ups, straight bar dips, l sit, squats? Sorry for all these questions! 🙏

You can do tucked front lever pull ups on a parallel bars. I would say a variety of different kinds of dips are best for the shoulder joint. Don't just do one all the time. Yes all those exercises you listed are all really good. I would add a rowing movement though for sure.

Thanks Jonathan! For now, I have only a door pull up bar. So, I can only do the straight version. Yes, I am trying to do the tuck front lever although it is a little difficult to enter the position but I am progressing. Do you recommend any exercise for that?

Hey al, i recently dislocated my shoulder. Ive built strength back in to it by doing push ups. Pull ups im just starting to do again. Of course im gonna do pull ups starting from the active hang position to keep my shoulder gurdle tight. However i read this book "shoulder pain? The solution and prevention" where it recommends hanging from a bar in the passive hang position. Do you think hanging from a bar without keeping the shoulders tight is a good idea after recently dislocating your shoulder? Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Pai Mei "scap pull ups" and "scap push ups" both can help with training that shoulder girdle. If you want to try something goofy looking and pretty hard, you can try inverted shrugs on parallel bars.

Hei hei hei Al. I have a problem with handstand progression, after long time I just realize that my front delt weaker than other part. Any advice to train front delt other than do pike push-up? Just for variation. I realize after I can do wall assist handstand push-up with weight but struggle with just bodyweight when doing wall facing handstand push-up.

Feldy Mohrisar lots of push up variations, maybe the Hindu push up or dive bomber. Also, dips.

Hey Al I have another question How will it effect my strength if I go down to lower push up position from plank position then hold that position for long time until I feel fatigued and then push myself back to the plank position. Thanks.
@GeorgeLocke6 жыл бұрын
Mohneesh vaidya in general isometric holds improve strength in that part of a movement, so a low plank like you describe should improve your strength at the bottom of a push up, which is of course the hardest part.

Hi Al. Do you have a body weight only movement to work the posterior chain that this guy is describing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5vCqWh9g5qgbMU ? I don't have access to a machine like that. When I do plyometric bounding or try to accelerate running uphill, I can feel that chain working. However, I tend to strain my quads and hipflexors doing that now. I'd like to learn to use my posterior chain more to generate power. What do you suggest? Do you know of any yoga sequences that could be of benefit for that? thanks
