What in the heck is Jess talking about. The pump stops the fuel from the back pressure into the nozzle not the vehicle. There isn't a part in the car that stops it.

It's most likely an issue with the fill neck or EVAP system. She should have her mechanic take a look at it, that shouldn't happen.

@@codymeyer1455 That is true but for the opposite reason. The EVAP system will cause it to repeatedly stop and make it difficult to fill up because the canister is soaked from "force filling" and the overflow going into it.

Your car has NOTHING to do with the gas pump not turning off. U can pump gas into a plastic container and it will turn off. It's all in the handle

Yes, the gas pump detects to fuel backing up in the vehicle filler neck.
