15 years ago I saw Jack at Unity Church in Golden Valley, MN promoting his new book, The Success Principles. I don't remember everything he said, but I do remember that he was comfortable in his skin, chatting with about 100 people with his hands in his pockets as though we were all friends. He said that he asks his wife all the time, "If we're not #10 on a scale to one to 1-10 today, what do I need to do to get there?" I'd come out of a very bad marriage as an angry woman and thought that this man really has guts to ask. I bought the book, and it took me 6 months to get through it. If he had the guts to write it. I could certainly get through it. Totally worth it.

I love this, it gives support to the designs for treatment and healing programs we are working on, because a big part of healing is to DO MORE and learn you CAN, and the can and will sessions to replace that four letter word can't...........God bless.

Your tips offered me a gentle reminder that it's time to let go of self-imposed responsibilities that are taking too much time away from those that are more meaningful and rewarding.

A superb video. Gave some profound insights into saying no at times as saying yes all the time can disturb your peace of mind. Your thoughts on perfection are priceless. Thanks, Jack Sir for this brilliant and my thanks to Ms. Patty for the added value she brought into the discussions.

Love the perfectionism exercises (wearing clothes inside out, gas station, etc). That's where I most often get stuck! Facebook Live videos for my Pray. Eat. Move. Community has helped a lot too! Yes, each of us is enough and worthy of love just because we are one of God's creations. Thanks!

Thank you sooooo much for this you opened me up to myself! I'm taking a new look at how to begin to speak up positively and use the phrase "it is not against you, it's for me"' and say NO! awesome watch worth every second dedicated to it.

I love the last part of this segment! And yes, while you say it, it clicks, it sounds known but I it really was needed to get the reminder that I know things others don't. I get to write and talk about things others can feel grateful for and find them useful. Thank you beautiful People for this time!!!

So perfectionism question solved thank you , all stems from not being important enough to show up. Yet I'm a natural everything comes easy to me I either have an affinity for most everything I do or it's very easy to learn it. Not everything but most. I know I can be very good near perfect at it so I have to because I'd be less than my given talent could be and then the feeling of not giving your best at it a "slacker" mentality crept in.

Thank you for reminding me to say "No" at the right time. Postpone for a day or next time when I am reluctance to say "Yes". These " No" really help me for greater success in life. It is a big challenge for me to say No" as unknowing I perceived "Yes" as positive attitude and a good person. It is a painful way to learn my lesson by saying "No" as the "Yes, Yes " rob away my freedom on time, money and dignity .....

How do you address not finishing things? I typically have many irons in the fire at once from many sources (work, personal development, home improvements, etc)...but I find myself getting so wrapped up into the details and being a perfectionist, I end up getting to the very end of a project and then procrastination sets in badly! What is causing that? As you mentioned that "perfectionism is a symptom of fear of not being enough." Is my "perfectionistic procrastination" also a fear? A fear of no longer being needed if something gets finished?

I really related to the question about perfectionism because I too let my thoughts of it has to be perfect stop me from doing things. I liked the comment”you don’t have to be perfect to be loved”. I need to make that my mantra. I am going to work on enjoying the process and not perfection to do some of the things that my perfectionism is stopping me from doing.

I have been a victim of the "wound" my father would let us down at almost every weekend he was supposed to show. I'm generally a helpful person I enjoy helping people because I know what it's like to not have it. But I have said yes and then couldn't do it . I felt guilty because I couldn't do it , then embarrassment influenced me to hide because I hated not being able to do it. As I'm listening to the self esteem thing and resentment. I have gotten better at saying no or leaving it open in case I did have time to do. It's not that I was sacrificing or losing anything by helping. I just under estimate the efficiency at which I can complete it due to unseen obstacles. So I need to calculate in more time. I'm a perfectionist paralysis victim I dont know how to fix that.

Dear Jack and Patty, thank you so much for your inspiring work! I have an important question for my personal growth: What could I do about my problem, that I am not able to feel the emotion anger? Whenever I - for my own good - should reasonably feel angry, I just feel intense fear and helplessness. That is deeply rooted in experiences of not being able to defend myself since childhood and it causes job-related and private problems. I am seriously working with your success principles, but cannot let go of the past, because as you said, in order to forgive what someone did to you, one of the necessary steps is to feel the anger. I tried to push myself with that, I tried to act as if I feel angry (although I did not), I tried to talk myself into that emotion, but all of that just causes more anxiety. It would mean a lot to me if you had any ideas of how I could overcome this persistent blockade. I don't want to be stuck in this victim trap that is dominating my emotions and blocking my capacity to act freely and achieve my desired goals.

I have a good idea on how to say no: if someone asks you for a favour don’t say no straight away , ask them a favour back and they will change their mind by themselves haha

Covid 19 has helped me. Sheltering at home is great because there are no more family gatherings or running errands and now I was able to say no. No. I am in quartile. There was no problem. I plan to continue to say no after the pandemic and stay at home orders are over. No.

I am wondering about the perfectionism that I see in some children right from the get-go. There are people who see every non-perfect detail and how they all interconnect. They see the outcome of the non-perfection and want to set things right. (for beauty, for organization, for safety, for the joy of excellence, a million reasons) I think they are not able to stop the fact that their observation is at a microscopic-type level. Sort of like what it would be like to be superman and see through walls. It is somewhat not in their control that they see in this way. It seems to be an inborn state vs due to parental ideals, or any other outside force. Do you have any insights for those who seem born with this and therefore it may have been meant to be primarily an asset? Letting it go of this primary drive too often to please others can be felt as self-injury and invalidation. (This is only if the primary cause of perfectionism is NOT fear or a need to please others)
