Great interview. With so much prosperity gospel & false teaching in the black community, I'm so glad there is a brother who is an expositor getting some exposure

Beautiful conversation, particularly the comments on racial tension in the church. I was just with a team in a sensitive part of the world with diverse groups of people, all Christian, unified under the culture of the cross of Christ that transcends any political tensions we are facing. One dear brother from a war-torn country confessed that he was led to hate people from the country that bombed his country. Now, having met brothers and sister from his enemies' country, he felt nothing but love. He asked forgiveness from the brothers from his country since men there are not to cry, and then broke down and wept. May we all have that kind of heart so moved by the work of the Holy Spirit.

if you are not beautiful, or if you are ugly.. loosing your hair, and have no teeth within your gums... and no one wants to be with you... does God still love you?
@e.crabtree4313

@melodykeogh You are comparing human beings with God. Why do you question the love of God for you when He died to pay YOUR debt of sin; has He done you any wrong? Questioning the love of human beings is valid. Just remember they are fallen creatures who need salvation. If people are truly converted then they would love you unconditionally.

@@e.crabtree4313 that didn't answer my question. how many ugly, toothless, balding people do you see in these televised congregations? It's not the Love of God that I am questioning, though that was the question...it's just that I've notice all across televised preaching, there doesn't seem to be one broken, ugly, toothless, despicable person. Just saying/

@@melodykeogh Who said toothless, broken people are despicable/ugly? Who said TV is the measure of beauty? It also depends on which lens you view televised congregations; spiritual vs physical lenses.

@@e.crabtree4313 ...the question was, ' if you are not beautiful, or if you are ugly...loosing your hair and have no teeth within your gums... and no one wants to be with you...does God still love you? Your answers have failed to answer that question. Yet I read in Isaiah 53:2-3... 'and like a root out of dry ground. HE had NO beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, NOTHING in His appearance that we should desire HIM. HE was despised and rejected by men, a moan of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces, he was despised, and we esteemed HIM not.' So the perfect answer should have been yes, of course. xxx thank you for your conversation. xxx

Wow the very first question was a fail. H.B. Charles said the "Good News" is also bad news, as in the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is anything other than good news. He does not distinguish between Law and Gospel. Law is not Gospel. The Law tell us of our misery, our need for a savior the fact that we cannot save ourselves, pretty bad news for sure. The Gospel tells of what Christ did for me, how he lived the life I could not live and paid the debt I could not pay, how he rose from death and ascended to heaven and will one day come again for me. HOW IS THAT BAD NEWS! Gross! R.C. would ask "WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU!" #askligonier

@Vanessa Maybe it's 'bad news' to the unrepentant.

Ellen Crabtree I’m going to leave this here because this sort of teaching irks me. Not because your comment pushed back. I am grateful you even thought about it. I won’t engage others. There’s enough here for anyone to consider who wants to. Q: Should the Good News be heard w/ joy or w/ dread? (There is a presumption in the question. It presumes understanding by the one who hears. Scripture follows that it is foolishness to those who don’t believe. Unbelievers do not “dread” what they consider to be “foolish.” An unrepentant does not dread b/c he does not believe. In the same way someone who doesn’t produce the hormone that triggers the feeling of hunger and has no taste buds and has never learned of their need for food does not excite over the idea of a five star buffet neither in desire or understood need. Left uninformed, they will die in their state. A: “Yes... it is good news, bad news, worse news... all of those at the same time. The bad news is that we are sinners separated before a holy God...and there is nothing we can do to reach God’s righteous standard.” [Yes and yes BUT that’s what the Law tells us; our need for a Savior.] “And the leads us to the good news...” [Yes and yes but b/c the Law DRIVE us to the cross, to the Savior - to the Gospel. What he’s saying is that the Gospel drives us to the Gospel. Nope, the Law drive us to Christ.] “The good news of the gospel is to hear it and it’s conviction...” [No, the Law convicts, the Gospel saves.] Why did Adam and Eve hide in shame? Not because they were given the GOSPLE - because the moral law was ALREADY written on their heart. Conviction and guilt were already laid upon them. The promise of a Savior came AFTER God addressed their guilt; it was their hope for redemption. They knew their guilt BEFORE they were told of the One to come. It was their opened eyes to their guiltiness that drove them to hope in the Promised One to come. When we are presented w/ our guilt, come to understand it by the work of the HS and realize where we are positionally in relation to the holy & righteous God we have no other option but to run to the cross. Slow for some and fast for others, still only to the cross of Christ we go. The only thing one who hears w/ understanding should dread is getting the Gospel wrong. Those who dread, do so because they are already condemned by the Law; on this side of the cross there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. HBC assumes the Good News point us to the Law and THEN to Christ. No, the Good News points us to Christ alone. Glad tidings are only a reason for gladness because the hearer has already become aware of his woe. heidelblog.net/2019/10/when-the-good-news-becomes-bad-2/
