Some other ideas: - SSTV between two on-site locations so they can see the results. I use tablets with HTs and a library of images they can choose from so we don’t run into any photo release issues. - a Morse code buzzer craft. I use a watch battery, a piezo buzzer, and a clothespin for the main components, with wire and copper tape to connect it up. - satellite communications are fun and quickly turn into a patrol activity if some are looking at the tracking software, some are manning a handheld antenna, and some are operating the radio.

Good info. I'll be at K-1414 Ridley Creek State Park in PA next Saturday (10/15) helping out a Scout troop for a newer ham that's in charge of the troop. I'll be doing some combination of POTA/JOTA that day. Should be fun. 73!

I'm thinking of setting up at a park and letting the kids get on the air

We have a big event with a Fox Hunt, Morse Code "races", various antennas and a US grid, Radio Merit Badge opportunity, and a follow up class to get kids licensed. Hope to talk to you Oct 15th 10:00 - 2:00!
