Another Thing is, None of The prophets of the old or apostles of the Nt ever had to say, Oh sorry I was wrong.

Jer 23:32 Jehovah says, Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams, and tell them, and cause My people to go astray by their lies, and by their frivolity. Yet I did not send them nor command them. And they will not profit this people at all, says Jehovah.

I find it funny that he didn't like using the word 'false' when it came to an illegitimate prophecy. He prefers the word 'wrong'. To me, that throws up some flags. I mean all of his charismatic theology throws up flags, but this really aids for cop-out situations, which is dangerous. God has spoken plainly in the Bible, either a prophecy is true and from God's mouth, or it is false and not from His mouth. The Bible never records 'wrong' prophecies from legitimate prophets, (at least according to Bickles definition of 'wrong'), because biblically a wrong prophecy IS a false prophecy. There's no inbetween. (And no, the Acts 21 prophecy from Agabus to Peter doesn't count, we can get into that if you're interested to talk, but if you exegete the passages properly, you'll see why he wasn't semi-wrong as many people argue.) He also brings up Old Testament prophets and talks about them as if they operated differently. The Bible makes no provision for a difference between New and Old Testament prophets. And the reason we discern prophecies is not to merely tell whether or not a prophet's prophecy is legitimate, but whether or not the prophet themselves are legitimate. The early church had the Apostles, and they taught with the Old Testament scriptures. So they would have judged early church prophets by those scriptures. So according to Jeremiah 23:32, Duet 13:1-4, and any other passages on this that I can't currently recall, if any prophet would falsely prophecy even just once, the church would either consider them a false prophet who has a demon, or call them out as someone who's wanting to be a prophet who has neither the gift from God nor has a demon, and they would insist that person merely cease and desist their folly immediately. Mike Bickle shows once again that he doesn't know what he's talking about, and further proves his church is a false witness.

What about the prophet Agabus?! He got it wrong...His prophesy to the apostle Paul wasn't exactly accurate! In the NT, we are to judge prophecies, not people!

hmmm... Not really, but yes.. Yes in that we should absolutely hold prophets accountable, and there needs to be a public statement if wrong, BUT... PROPHECY, in nature, is consistent across both testaments/covenants. Prophecy is by it's very essence speaking forth the words of God. There's nowhere the Bible says that we do it by "faith". Either you hear, or you don't. That simple. Prophecy is judged by others in the New Covenant because this is prophecy as it relates to wise utterances, not foretelling events.

Deu 13:1 If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams rises among you, and gives you a sign or a wonder, Deu 13:2 and the sign or the wonder which he spoke to you occurs, saying, Let us go after other gods which you have not known, and let us serve them, Deu 13:3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams. For Jehovah your God is testing you, to know if you love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Deu 13:4 You shall walk after Jehovah your God, and you shall fear Him. And you shall keep His commandments, and you shall hear His voice, and you shall serve Him, and you shall cleave to Him.

Coming from the standpoint of believing that the gifts of the Spirit are still in existence today, in all respect, considering that the gift of prophecy comes from the Holy Spirit according to 1 Corinthians 12, if someone claims something to come that isn't fulfilled as detailed, that wasn't of the Holy Spirit. And I'm sorry, but that should speak for itself to other people that the person who gave the false prophecy not only spoke wrong, but also was not led by the Holy Spirit.
@RManLazarus3 жыл бұрын
I agree with your comments. A prophet speaks for God and God get it wrong? God forbid! How can someone speaking for God and get it wrong? By speaking the words of their own mind and heart ...their desire and falsely atributes to God the false words. Is he or she a false prophet YES! However that person needs to publicly repent and be very careful and extremely cautious not to deliver false words again!

Not all prophetic 'words' are carved in stone. Sometimes they serve as a warning of something that can be avoided by taking an appropriate action. Jonah was told by God to prophesy to Nineva that they would be destroyed. They repented from the King on down and God repented of the thing He said He would do. A King was told he would die, he turned his face to the wall and repented .... God gave him another 15 years. So NO prophetic words are not all predictions of certainties .............

I would have to disagree trying to use passages from scripture to show that giving prophecy is something that is trained, it not a skill but someone is the very Mouth piece of God, so if a prophecy fails to come to past and The prophet admits it, it be The same of God saying, Oh sorry I know I said this would happen but I was wrong. it either comes to past or your not a prophet.

If you don't have the gift then you shouldn't comment on it. You don't understand how a word comes about in you own subconscious, that can get mixed sometimes. We have to all grown together. It's different from the old covenant, they either heard from God or they didn't. We're now called into relationship with him. We should be lined up with his heart and mind but we must grow in that. I've given words that are really impact full but I've also had some that the person looks at me and it didn't line up. But with that same person I would continue and they would be touched because God would speak in the midst of what I was sharing with them.
