During the game, it looked a lot like the UGA game in 2020 where we were up at halftime and then UGA came storming back. Tenn went up 14-3 and I thought they were going to run away with it. Fortunately, our defense hung in there and kept us in the game so the offense could get going late in the game and pull out the win.

Why does the media have to have “a take”? I thought they were supposed to report the news, not predict it, definitely not share their personal opinions. To be fair I don’t mean on a show like this where the whole premise is answer questions, but the fact that “reporters” think they have to have a take whether it right or wrong is a lot of what I think the problem is that Mike is talking about. I really enjoy this show and the integrity shown in the answers are thought out or y’all just refuse to answer a question you’re not sure about.

That’s still looks good for Arkansas though. They let us score so they could get the ball back with plenty of time. Had they not, Arkansas likely runs the clock down to about 20 seconds and then kicked a FG that could’ve iced it.

I remember watching that game. Let’s start with this-there were only 13 bowl games. Old Southwest vs. the Big 8. The Big 8 champion always went to the Orange Bowl. During the season, when a team clinched the Big 8 championship, fans would throw oranges onto the field where they were playing. OU had been declared National Champion in ‘75, and shared the honor with Southern Cal in ‘74. Both teams had one loss each-to the Texas Longhorns. As #1, Texas had lost to Notre Dame (Joe Montana was the QB) earlier that day in the Cotton Bowl. Arkansas was an 18-point underdog. Until the suspension, when the spread went to 24. I’m sure that the Sooners football team came to the Orange Bowl Stadium saying, “We’re National Champions!!” A dense fog rolled in. The field-level announcer said he couldn’t see the goal post at the far end. This was Arkansas’ first appearance in the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida. First-year Coach Lou Holtz suspended 3 players because of team rule violations. Razorbacks responded well to the one-game suspensions. They learned that Holtz was serious; he meant business. Two of the players (Ben Cowins and Donny Bobo) had scored nearly 80% of the points that year. But, at least, three 2nd-stringers got a chance to show they were just as good as the starters. The Hogs had nothing to lose. If memory serves me correctly, OU lost their footing a lot. Miami soil is quite sandy. The announcers thought that their cleats were too short. Arkansas never showed the same issue. And when it was over, Arkansas won 31-6, and it was never that close. I live in Norman OK now. About a mile west of the OU Campus. But the checks I write have Razorbacks on them. Cheers!!

Went to OU , would have cried at that game if it would’ve done any good. Work and family had my wife and I and two young daughters moving to Arkansas on the night that OU beat Arkansas in a rematch years later. Today, still in Arkansas, My oldest daughter is a professor at U of A and have 6 grandchildren. We’re all Hog fans.

Great episode. I think HC is face of program, does PR, NIL issues, budgeting, and QC on offense, defense, and special teams. Pittman is great for this. Let Petrino concentrate just on offensive scheming. Let Travis do his job too. If you like Petrino and Williams, the OC line coach Mateos -- but blame Pittman because we lose one-score games a lot -- I dont know what to say. If Pittman leaves most likely there's a general exodus.

When Pittman has both an excellent OC and an excellent DC to prop him up (2020, 2021, and 2024) and he stays out of their way AS HE HIMSELF SAYS HE DOES, he can appear successful. Otherwise, (2022 and 2023), he dithers and the team falls apart.

So Pittman gets no credit for putting the staff together and running the team? He made an admittedly big mistake hiring Enos and everyone thought he should be fired. Why doesn’t he get the same credit for making a great hire as he gets hate for a bad one. I mean he’s already totaled last seasons wins and we very easily could be 6-0 right now if not for some bad mistakes on the field. Not in the game planning or play calling. I think it’s pretty amazing to turn a team around this completely in one offseason.
