Great talk. Just wanted to say that I don't remember ever experiencing hot flashes or night sweats during pregnancy in near the debilitating way I did in menopause, if at all. The symptoms of menopause are regarded as being bad because they affect a woman's life so much. "The Change" is an apt name! I felt androgynous, strange, and did not feel like myself until I got on hormone therapy.

I can distinctly recall the feeling of a little bomb igniting in the center of my head and then the heat would emanate and travel downward throughout my body. This was my hot flash. Oh and in hindsight sight, my oral health has deteriorated parallel to this menopausal journey.

Menopause is a subject that many doctors know very little about. This includes gynecologists. In my experience, one of the Major symptoms of oestrogen deficiency is severe mood swings, not different from bipolar. The other is the complete loss of sex drive. These two symptoms are a major cause of toxic relationships and break up of marriages amongst elderly couples. The natural health proponents ignore this issue. Brain health and functioning are equally important as the health of other organs. Please listen to these two outstanding scientists.

This was fabulous - thank you so much! I was hoping Alloy could do a U tube on strictly progesterone? For those of us with no uterus (and no ovaries) we are very confused if we should or should not be taking progesterone. Thank you.

This is a great suggestion, we'll note this for a future video!

If you have had your uterus removed you don't need to take progesterone . However, it has calming effects so it helps some women sleep. You must have progesterone to prevent uterine cancer if your uterus intact ( and you are taking estrogen in perimenopause/ menopause)

I have a comment . First, thanks to Dr. Mosconi for her original and outstanding research on the female brain. Unfortunately the symptoms are a disaster if you cannot find a doctor to treat you or worse a doctor that gaslights you which can be a degrading harmful experience. Massive education of doctors is needed. Even primary docs need to have general knowledge of menopause so they can refer appropriately. It will take at least another generation to undo the damage caused by the women's health initiative. B

@@lindajones4849 Absolutely, too many women struggle to find answers. It shouldn't be this way. This is exactly why we started Alloy, to help women find relief!

@@lindajones4849 I agree with you 100%. I have a female OBGYN who is younger than my doctor who retired ( my thinking that she would be more receptive), gaslights me and tells me how normal it is to sweat through your clothing every night, sometimes more than once a day, depression, anxiety, insomnia, almost manic like emotions…. You begin asking yourself if you were wrong! Then she tries to create a fear driven narrative regarding breast cancer and menopause, should be grounds for malpractice. There are so many women who have psychologically cracked because they weren’t taken seriously, and it is heartbreaking. As mentioned, my race of women experience the worst of these symptoms and guess what???? We have been known as the most difficult race of women (which some cases) may be linked to the rollercoaster of emotions that we often encounter earlier, & for longer periods of life. Thank you to the panel of women who created this space of safety! ❤

Great talk! Thank you. I would love to advocate for more research. But how? It’s like shouting into the wilderness.

What is the correct ratio of estradiol to progesterone to prevent water retention? 3 pumps daily and 12 days monthly of 200mg utrogestan causes 10lbs water retention for me. X
