Silva is a genius. Just watched old footage when he came on board; I've been watching since the beginning

I wish they would mention that this bench design is inspired by the Nelson Bench, a 1947 classics that endures.

I remodeled a house that the front porch was delaminated by salt, and it was not something I was going to tackle. Fortunately, the landlord/owner had someone else do that work.

8:17 I will say that the weed robot is a nice idea but if I were this guy I would be working on a detection system that was a bit more advanced that would not only look for items below the line but if it could detect what plants it is over or near it could take care of the plants that it needs to and it could alert you on an app of any other plants you may not know about.

Who’s to say he isn’t already? In the meantime he can get early versions of his product into the world.

Give me a break! That weedwackin’ toy robot can’t compete with a professional human weedpuller that has 2 strong hands and a real life human brain that controls them. I wish you guys at This Old House would quit pushing the “Smart” robot agenda.

Jenn needs to understand that the future will be robots that help with chores and tasks like gardening. Come on, watch some sci-fi... Silent Running had three fellas that took care of green houses. I'd love a yardbot that would work tirelessly keeping critters and deer away, feeding soil, weeding... wouldn't anyone? That way you can focus on pruning or just enjoying the view!

I agree completely. If you can show me something that can weed every day of the week I'm in. I don't mind planning I don't mind some maintenance but having to weed almost every day takes a ton of the fun out of it for me

It's a pity they soft-pedaled the harm salts do to the landscape and hardscape it encounters. They also forgot to warn viewers about so-called "environmentally friendly" blends that tout the inclusion of CaCl or MgCl, but which in reality are still largely NaCl. And they completely left out genuinely safe options, like anti-ice (i.e. put these on before the ice is actually there) solutions, such as beet juice, or the effective and safe deicer, calcium magnesium acetate (CMA). Granted, these cost a bit more, and CMA in particular can be difficult to find in pure form (home centers usually sell it in the aforementioned misleading packaging, where there's very little actual CMA in the product), but they are very good options. And as noted in the video, you're not usually using that much actual product at a time, so the relative cost differences wind up not being a big problem anyway.
