I would hope he performed a gas tightness test with a manometer at the meter before finishing the job, but maybe that's not something they do in the states.

Hi TOH , I love the beautiful stair treads , I told my sister that she should take the carpet off her stairs & put a runner going down with brass rods on each tread , I love that look ! 👍😊

Yeah but he could have left the dope off the first couple threads so not to clog the jets. No need for Teflon tape And dope. Both are lubricants needed for the tapered threads to bottom out and make the seal.
@walterbrunswick
@walterbrunswick 3 жыл бұрын
He also didn't bother to clean off the old pipe dope, he uses pipe wrenches on flat/smooth hex fittings, and he doesn't know how to properly adjust an adjustable wrench (shutting off the main gas valve). Yeah, "professional" alright, if you're a butcher.

Silky_ I think what you are referring to is a nipple caddy.

@kenc2257 4 жыл бұрын
@@zoogler19 Yep. Probably get them at a big box store, but probably special order (that's just for the caddy/tray--no nipples are included). Otherwise, at a plumbing supply house (probably in stock there), or online.

Why did you not replace the shutoff behind the stove with a ball valve? Those old plug valves leak, and where I live, they are no longer code compliant!

Don't know why Richard decided to reuse that old shut-off valve. Maybe he didn't bring a replacement? [which is weird, as there's probably a couple of plumbers/helpers on these filming locations--certainly a plumber licensed for that jurisdiction]

If the pipe allmost made it why not use a 90 degree elbow and you would have enough room to fit the stove

@@dalesworld1308 I agree with you on this one. Why do all that work replacing the steps when you can just refinish them to a lighter color to match the others ?. And maybe repair just that one step. Then seal the gaps to help stop the squeaks.

Why is that? Are they not pipes
@mitchdenner9743
@mitchdenner9743 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah i cringed a little on that too. If its got flats on it generally you use a wrench with flat jaws as to not marr the fitting or nut. Pipe wrenches have teeth on the jaws to bite into a raw pipe that has no flats for a wrench. But ol school plumbers use pipe wrenches or slip joint pliers on everything . And yes i would have leak tested that flex line fitting also even though it was a flare type connection. A connection is a connection no matter what type it is , can't be to safe when it comes to gas.
